If a man should walk in a false spirit And speak a lie, saying,‘ I will prophesy to you of wine and drink,’ Even he would be the prattler of this people.

若有人心存虚假，用谎言说：‘我要向你们预言得清酒和浓酒。’那人就必作这民的先知。

若有人心存虚假，用谎言说：“我向你们传讲可得清酒和烈酒”，那人就必作这百姓的传讲者。

若有人心存虚假，用谎言说：“我向你们传讲可得清酒和烈酒”，那人就必作这百姓的传讲者。

倘若有骗子撒谎说，‘我预言你们会有美酒佳酿。’他就会成为这个民族的先知。

若有人随从虚假的心，撒谎说：“我要向你们说清酒和烈酒的预言。”那人就是这民的预言家了。

假使有人以虛假的作風往來而撒謊說：『我要向你們發神言講論酒和濃酒的題目』，這種人便可以做這人民的神言人了！

如人從虛偽、尚誑言、曰、我論清酒醇醪、向爾預言、彼則可為斯民之先知焉、○

如人好偽、佯托感神、以清酒醇醪、誨人燕飲、則民樂以為師、

如人尚虛浮、以偽妄之言告民曰、我乃先知、我訓爾宜飲清酒醇醪、我乃先知我訓爾宜飲清酒醇醪原文作我向爾述預言論及酒與醇醪則民尊之為師、○

If a liar and deceiver comes and says,‘ I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,’ that would be just the prophet for this people!

Suppose a prophet goes around telling lies. And he prophesies that you will have plenty of wine and beer. Then that kind of prophet would be just right for this nation!

If a man should go about and utter wind and lies, saying,“ I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,” he would be the preacher for this people!

Suppose a prophet full of lies would say to you,“ I’ll preach to you the joys of wine and alcohol!” That’s just the kind of prophet you would like!

If a man comes and utters empty lies—“ I will preach to you about wine and beer”— he would be just the preacher for this people!

If someone walking after wind and falsehood Had lied and said,‘ I will prophesy to you about wine and liquor,’ He would become a prophet to this people.

If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

If a man of wind comes and invents lies:“ I will preach to you about wine and beer,” he would be just the preacher for this people!

If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie,[ saying], I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

If a lying windbag should come and say,‘ I’ll promise you blessings of wine and beer,’ he would be just the right preacher for these people!

If a man walking in a spirit of falsehood lies:“ I will prophesy to you of wine and of strong drink;” he would be the prophet of this people.

The prophets prophesy falsely, And the priests rule by their own power; And My people love to have it so. But what will you do in the end?

Who say to the seers,“ Do not see,” And to the prophets,“ Do not prophesy to us right things; Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits.Get out of the way, Turn aside from the path, Cause the Holy One of Israel To cease from before us.”

They continually say to those who despise Me,‘ The Lord has said,“ You shall have peace”’; And to everyone who walks according to the dictates of his own heart, they say,‘ No evil shall come upon you.’”

Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet,“ Hear now, Hananiah, the Lord has not sent you, but you make this people trust in a lie.

The elder and honorable, he is the head; The prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail.

“ Because from the least of them even to the greatest of them, Everyone is given to covetousness; And from the prophet even to the priest, Everyone deals falsely.They have also healed the hurt of My people slightly, Saying,‘ Peace, peace!’ When there is no peace.

And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders,and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,

Also I have seen a horrible thing in the prophets of Jerusalem: They commit adultery and walk in lies; They also strengthen the hands of evildoers, So that no one turns back from his wickedness. All of them are like Sodom to Me, And her inhabitants like Gomorrah.

“ Because with lies you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and you have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that he does not turn from his wicked way to save his life.

He said to him,“ I too am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying,‘ Bring him back with you to your house, that he may eat bread and drink water.’”( He was lying to him.)

Therefore I will give their wives to others, And their fields to those who will inherit them; Because from the least even to the greatest Everyone is given to covetousness; From the prophet even to the priest Everyone deals falsely.For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of My people slightly, Saying,‘ Peace, peace!’ When there is no peace.

Her heads judge for a bribe, Her priests teach for pay, And her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean on the Lord, and say,“ Is not the Lord among us? No harm can come upon us.”

And the Lord said,‘ Who will persuade Ahab king of Israel to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner.Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said,‘ I will persuade him.’ The Lord said to him,‘ In what way?’So he said,‘ I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the Lord said,‘ You shall persuade him and also prevail; go out and do so.’Therefore look! The Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these prophets of yours, and the Lord has declared disaster against you.”

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.

“ Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying:‘ I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.Within two full years I will bring back to this place all the vessels of the LORD’s house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon.

“ I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy lies in My name, saying,‘ I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’

Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said,‘ I will persuade him.’The Lord said to him,‘ In what way?’ So he said,‘ I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the Lord said,‘ You shall persuade him, and also prevail. Go out and do so.’Therefore look! The Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and the Lord has declared disaster against you.”

Therefore do not listen to the words of the prophets who speak to you, saying,‘ You shall not serve the king of Babylon,’ for they prophesy a lie to you;for I have not sent them,” says the Lord,“ yet they prophesy a lie in My name, that I may drive you out, and that you may perish, you and the prophets who prophesy to you.”

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them,“ Shall I go against Ramoth Gilead to fight, or shall I refrain?” So they said,“ Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

Thus says the Lord concerning the prophets Who make my people stray; Who chant“ Peace” While they chew with their teeth, But who prepare war against him Who puts nothing into their mouths:

Behold, I am against those who prophesy false dreams,” says the Lord,“ and tell them, and cause My people to err by their lies and by their recklessness. Yet I did not send them or command them; therefore they shall not profit this people at all,” says the Lord.

whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame— who set their mind on earthly things.

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction.And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

and will receive the wages of unrighteousness, as those who count it pleasure to carouse in the daytime. They are spots and blemishes, carousing in their own deceptions while they feast with you,having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. They have a heart trained in covetous practices, and are accursed children.They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;but he was rebuked for his iniquity: a dumb donkey speaking with a man’s voice restrained the madness of the prophet.These are wells without water, clouds carried by a tempest, for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error.While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage.

And the Lord said to me,“ The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart.

Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in My name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall slay them before your eyes.And because of them a curse shall be taken up by all the captivity of Judah who are in Babylon, saying,“ The Lord make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire”;because they have done disgraceful things in Israel, have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken lying words in My name, which I have not commanded them. Indeed I know, and am a witness, says the Lord.

Thus says the Lord GOD:“ Woe to the foolish prophets, who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!O Israel, your prophets are like foxes in the deserts.You have not gone up into the gaps to build a wall for the house of Israel to stand in battle on the day of the Lord.They have envisioned futility and false divination, saying,‘ Thus says the Lord!’ But the Lord has not sent them; yet they hope that the word may be confirmed.Have you not seen a futile vision, and have you not spoken false divination? You say,‘ The Lord says,’ but I have not spoken.”Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ Because you have spoken nonsense and envisioned lies, therefore I am indeed against you,” says the Lord GOD.“ My hand will be against the prophets who envision futility and who divine lies; they shall not be in the assembly of My people, nor be written in the record of the house of Israel, nor shall they enter into the land of Israel. Then you shall know that I am the Lord God.“ Because, indeed, because they have seduced My people, saying,‘ Peace!’ when there is no peace— and one builds a wall, and they plaster it with untempered mortar—say to those who plaster it with untempered mortar, that it will fall. There will be flooding rain, and you, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall tear it down.Surely, when the wall has fallen, will it not be said to you,‘ Where is the mortar with which you plastered it?’”Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ I will cause a stormy wind to break forth in My fury; and there shall be a flooding rain in My anger, and great hailstones in fury to consume it.So I will break down the wall you have plastered with untempered mortar, and bring it down to the ground, so that its foundation will be uncovered; it will fall, and you shall be consumed in the midst of it. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.
