who will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod with drawn sword. He will deliver us from the Assyrians when they invade our land and march across our borders.

They will use their swords to rule over Assyria. They’ll rule the land of Nimrod with swords that are ready to strike. The Assyrians will march across our borders and attack our land. But the promised ruler will save us from them.

希西家王第四年，就是以色列王以拉的兒子何細亞第七年，亞述王撒縵以色上來圍困撒馬利亞；過了三年就攻取了城。希西家第六年，以色列王何細亞第九年，撒馬利亞被攻取了。亞述王將以色列人擄到亞述，把他們安置在哈臘與歌散的哈博河邊，並米底亞人的城邑；都因他們不聽從耶和華－他們神的話，違背他的約，就是耶和華僕人摩西吩咐他們所當守的。希西家王十四年，亞述王西拿基立上來攻擊猶大的一切堅固城，將城攻取。猶大王希西家差人往拉吉去見亞述王，說：「我有罪了，求你離開我；凡你罰我的，我必承當。」於是亞述王罰猶大王希西家銀子三百他連得，金子三十他連得。希西家就把耶和華殿裏和王宮府庫裏所有的銀子都給了他。 (cunpt)

亞述王撒縵以色上來攻擊何細亞，何細亞就服事他，給他進貢。何細亞背叛，差人去見埃及王梭，不照往年所行的與亞述王進貢。亞述王知道了，就把他鎖禁，囚在監裏。亞述王上來攻擊以色列遍地，上到撒馬利亞，圍困三年。 (cunpt)

亞述是我怒氣的棍，手中拿我惱恨的杖。我要打發他攻擊褻瀆的國民，吩咐他攻擊我所惱怒的百姓，搶財為擄物，奪貨為掠物，將他們踐踏，像街上的泥土一樣。然而，他不是這樣的意思；他心也不這樣打算。他心裏倒想毀滅，剪除不少的國。他說：我的臣僕豈不都是王嗎？迦勒挪豈不像迦基米施嗎？哈馬豈不像亞珥拔嗎？撒馬利亞豈不像大馬士革嗎？我手已經搆到有偶像的國；這些國雕刻的偶像過於耶路撒冷和撒馬利亞的偶像。我怎樣待撒馬利亞和其中的偶像，豈不照樣待耶路撒冷和其中的偶像嗎？主在錫安山和耶路撒冷成就他一切工作的時候，主說：「我必罰亞述王自大的心和他高傲眼目的榮耀。」 (cunpt)
