我民當憶古昔摩押王巴勒謀害爾曹、庇耳子巴蘭與之黨同、自失亭至吉甲、耶和華之恩澤、爾其念之勿忘。

My people, remember what Balak king of Moab plotted and what Balaam son of Beor answered. Remember your journey from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.”

Remember how Balak, the king of Moab, planned to put a curse on your people. But Balaam, the son of Beor, gave them a blessing instead. Remember their journey from Shittim to Gilgal. I want you to know that I always do what is right.”

O my people, remember what Balak king of Moab devised, and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him, and what happened from Shittim to Gilgal, that you may know the righteous acts of the Lord.”

Don’t you remember, my people, how King Balak of Moab tried to have you cursed and how Balaam son of Beor blessed you instead? And remember your journey from Acacia Grove to Gilgal, when I, the Lord, did everything I could to teach you about my faithfulness.”

While Israel was staying in Shittim, the men began to indulge in sexual immorality with Moabite women, (niv)

Then the Lord said to Joshua,“ Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you.” So the place has been called Gilgal to this day.On the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, while camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, the Israelites celebrated the Passover. (niv)

the voice of the singers at the watering places. They recite the victories of the Lord, the victories of his villagers in Israel.“ Then the people of the Lord went down to the city gates. (niv)

On the tenth day of the first month the people went up from the Jordan and camped at Gilgal on the eastern border of Jericho. (niv)

When Balak son of Zippor, the king of Moab, prepared to fight against Israel, he sent for Balaam son of Beor to put a curse on you.But I would not listen to Balaam, so he blessed you again and again, and I delivered you out of his hand. (niv)

Continue your love to those who know you, your righteousness to the upright in heart. (niv)

Among their victims were Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba— the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword. (niv)

There on the plains of Moab they camped along the Jordan from Beth Jeshimoth to Abel Shittim. (niv)

They have left the straight way and wandered off to follow the way of Balaam son of Bezer, who loved the wages of wickedness. (niv)

“ They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident, so that a plague struck the Lord’s people. (niv)

My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long— though I know not how to relate them all.I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign Lord; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone. (niv)

Now then, stand here, because I am going to confront you with evidence before the Lord as to all the righteous acts performed by the Lord for you and your ancestors. (niv)

God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood— to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate. (niv)

Then the Israelites traveled to the plains of Moab and camped along the Jordan across from Jericho.Now Balak son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites,and Moab was terrified because there were so many people. Indeed, Moab was filled with dread because of the Israelites.The Moabites said to the elders of Midian,“ This horde is going to lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” So Balak son of Zippor, who was king of Moab at that time,sent messengers to summon Balaam son of Beor, who was at Pethor, near the Euphrates River, in his native land. Balak said:“ A people has come out of Egypt; they cover the face of the land and have settled next to me.Now come and put a curse on these people, because they are too powerful for me. Perhaps then I will be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land. For I know that whoever you bless is blessed, and whoever you curse is cursed.”The elders of Moab and Midian left, taking with them the fee for divination. When they came to Balaam, they told him what Balak had said.“ Spend the night here,” Balaam said to them,“ and I will report back to you with the answer the Lord gives me.” So the Moabite officials stayed with him.God came to Balaam and asked,“ Who are these men with you?”Balaam said to God,“ Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, sent me this message:‘ A people that has come out of Egypt covers the face of the land. Now come and put a curse on them for me. Perhaps then I will be able to fight them and drive them away.’”But God said to Balaam,“ Do not go with them. You must not put a curse on those people, because they are blessed.”The next morning Balaam got up and said to Balak’s officials,“ Go back to your own country, for the Lord has refused to let me go with you.”So the Moabite officials returned to Balak and said,“ Balaam refused to come with us.”Then Balak sent other officials, more numerous and more distinguished than the first.They came to Balaam and said:“ This is what Balak son of Zippor says: Do not let anything keep you from coming to me,because I will reward you handsomely and do whatever you say. Come and put a curse on these people for me.”But Balaam answered them,“ Even if Balak gave me all the silver and gold in his palace, I could not do anything great or small to go beyond the command of the Lord my God.Now spend the night here so that I can find out what else the Lord will tell me.”That night God came to Balaam and said,“ Since these men have come to summon you, go with them, but do only what I tell you.”Balaam got up in the morning, saddled his donkey and went with the Moabite officials.But God was very angry when he went, and the angel of the Lord stood in the road to oppose him. Balaam was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him.When the donkey saw the angel of the Lord standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand, it turned off the road into a field. Balaam beat it to get it back on the road.Then the angel of the Lord stood in a narrow path through the vineyards, with walls on both sides.When the donkey saw the angel of the Lord, it pressed close to the wall, crushing Balaam’s foot against it. So he beat the donkey again. (niv)

Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called“ uncircumcised” by those who call themselves“ the circumcision”( which is done in the body by human hands)— (niv)

But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. (niv)

Remember this and never forget how you aroused the anger of the Lord your God in the wilderness. From the day you left Egypt until you arrived here, you have been rebellious against the Lord. (niv)

Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality. (niv)

Then Balak said to Balaam,“ Come, let me take you to another place. Perhaps it will please God to let you curse them for me from there.” (niv)

For they did not come to meet you with bread and water on your way when you came out of Egypt, and they hired Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in Aram Naharaim to pronounce a curse on you.However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you. (niv)

Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God? (niv)

For your name’s sake, Lord, preserve my life; in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble. (niv)

Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. (niv)

Then Balak said to him,“ Come with me to another place where you can see them; you will not see them all but only the outskirts of their camp. And from there, curse them for me.”So he took him to the field of Zophim on the top of Pisgah, and there he built seven altars and offered a bull and a ram on each altar. (niv)

All these kings and their lands Joshua conquered in one campaign, because the Lord, the God of Israel, fought for Israel.Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal. (niv)

Woe to them! They have taken the way of Cain; they have rushed for profit into Balaam’s error; they have been destroyed in Korah’s rebellion. (niv)

The next morning Balak took Balaam up to Bamoth Baal, and from there he could see the outskirts of the Israelite camp. (niv)
