Jesus then left that place and went into the region of Judea and across the Jordan. Again crowds of people came to him, and as was his custom, he taught them.

後來，耶穌到了約旦河東岸約翰從前施洗的地方，在那裡住下來。

然後才對門徒說：「我們去猶太吧！」

耶穌說：「我是公開對世人講的，我常在猶太人聚集的會堂和聖殿教導人，沒有在背地裡講過什麼。

他們的不信令耶穌詫異，於是祂就去周圍的村莊教導人。

耶穌說完這番話，就離開加利利來到約旦河對岸的猶太地區。有一大群人跟著祂，祂就在那裡醫好了他們的病。有幾個法利賽人到耶穌那裡想試探祂，便問祂：「丈夫可以用任何理由休妻嗎？」耶穌回答說：「你們沒有讀過嗎？太初，造物主造了男人和女人，並且說，『因此，人要離開父母，與妻子結合，二人成為一體。』這樣，夫妻不再是兩個人，而是一體了。因此，上帝配合的，人不可分開。」他們追問：「那麼，為什麼摩西說，只要給妻子休書，就可以休她呢？」耶穌說：「因為摩西知道你們鐵石心腸，所以才准你們休妻。但起初並不是這樣。我告訴你們，除非是妻子不貞，否則，任何人休妻另娶，就是犯通姦罪。」門徒對耶穌說：「如果夫妻關係是這樣，還不如不結婚。」耶穌說：「這話不是每個人都能接受的，只有那些得到這種恩賜的人才能接受。人不結婚的原因很多，有些是因為先天的缺陷，有些是被人閹了，也有些是為了天國而自己放棄結婚的權利。誰能接受，就讓他接受吧。」

耶穌用比喻教導他們許多事，在教導中祂說：

耶穌走遍加利利，在各個會堂裡教導人，宣講天國的福音，醫治人們各樣的疾病。

耶穌又出去到了湖邊。有一大群人圍攏過來，祂就教導他們。

耶穌一下船，看見這一大群人好像沒有牧人的羊，心裡憐憫他們，於是教導了他們許多道理。

傳道者不但有智慧，還把知識傳授給眾人。他經過細心推敲和研究之後，編寫了許多警世的箴言。

他們不是面向我而是背對我，我不厭其煩地教導他們，他們卻不肯聽，不受教。
