Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus( which means“ son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging.

他們出耶利哥的時候，有一大羣人跟隨耶穌。有兩個盲人坐在路旁，聽說是耶穌經過，就喊着說：「主啊，大衛之子，可憐我們吧！」眾人責備他們，不許他們作聲，他們卻越發喊着說：「主啊，大衛之子，可憐我們吧！」耶穌就站住，叫他們來，說：「你們要我為你們做甚麼？」他們說：「主啊，讓我們的眼睛能看見。」耶穌動了慈心，摸了他們的眼睛，他們立刻看得見，就跟從耶穌。

耶穌將近耶利哥的時候，有一個盲人坐在路旁討飯。他聽見許多人經過，就問是甚麼事。他們告訴他，是拿撒勒人耶穌經過。他就呼叫說：「大衛之子耶穌啊，可憐我吧！」在前頭走的人就責備他，不許他作聲，他卻越發喊叫：「大衛之子啊，可憐我吧！」耶穌就站住，吩咐把他領過來，他到了跟前，就問他：「你要我為你做甚麼？」他說：「主啊，我要能看見。」耶穌對他說：「你看見吧！你的信救了你。」那盲人立刻看得見了，就跟隨耶穌，一路歸榮耀給上帝。眾人看見這事，也都讚美上帝。耶穌進了耶利哥，要從那裏經過。

後來那討飯的死了，被天使帶去放在亞伯拉罕的懷裏。財主也死了，並且埋葬了。

他的鄰舍和素常見他討飯的人，就說：「這不是那從前坐着討飯的人嗎？」

一個從母腹裏就是瘸腿的人正被人抬來，他們天天把他放在聖殿的一個叫美門的門口，求進聖殿的人施捨。他看見彼得、約翰將要進聖殿，就求他們施捨。

又有一個討飯的，名叫拉撒路，渾身長瘡，被人放在財主門口，
