以色列王對約沙法說：「還有一個人，是音拉的兒子米該雅，我們可以託他求問耶和華。只是我真的很恨他，因為他對我說預言，從不說吉言，總是說凶信。」約沙法說：「請王不要這麼說。」

亞哈對以利亞說：「我的仇敵啊，你找到我了嗎？」他說：「我找到你了。因為你出賣自己，行了耶和華眼中看為惡的事。

若有人想要害他們，就有火從他們口中噴出來，燒滅仇敵；凡想要害他們的都必須這樣被殺。這二人有權柄關閉天空，使他們說預言的日子不下雨；又有權柄使水變為血，並且能隨時隨意用各樣的災害擊打大地。他們作完見證的時候，那從無底坑裏上來的獸要跟他們交戰，並且得勝，把他們殺了。他們的屍首將倒在大城的街道上；這城按着靈意叫所多瑪，又叫埃及，就是他們的主釘十字架的地方。從各民族、支派、語言、邦國中有人觀看他們的屍首三天半，又不許人把屍首安放在墳墓裏。住在地上的人會因他們而歡喜快樂，互相饋送禮物，因為這兩位先知曾使住在地上的人受痛苦。

從那日起，他們就商議要殺耶穌。所以，耶穌不再公開在猶太人中走動，卻離開那裏，往靠近曠野的鄉間去，到了一座城，名叫以法蓮，就在那裏和門徒住下來。猶太人的逾越節近了，有許多人從鄉下上耶路撒冷去，要在過節前潔淨自己。於是他們尋找耶穌，站在聖殿裏彼此說：「你們認為怎樣，他不會來過節吧？」那時，祭司長和法利賽人早已下令，若有人知道耶穌的下落，就要報告，他們好去捉拿他。

眾人都稱讚他，並對他口中所出的恩言感到驚訝；他們說：「這不是約瑟的兒子嗎？」
