娶新娘的是新郎；新郎的朋友站在一旁听，一听见新郎的声音就欢喜快乐。因此，我这喜乐得以满足了。他必兴旺；我必衰微。”“从上头来的是在万有之上；出于地的是属于地，他所说的也是属于地。从天上来的是在万有之上。他把所见所闻的见证出来，只是没有人领受他的见证。那领受他见证的，就印证神是真实的。神所差来的说神的话，因为神所赐给他的圣灵是没有限量的。父爱子，已把万有交在他手里。信子的人有永生；不信子的人得不到永生，而且神的愤怒常在他身上。”

他们一走，耶稣就对众人谈到约翰，说：“你们从前到旷野去，是要看什么呢？看风吹动的芦苇吗？你们出去到底是要看什么？看穿细软衣服的人吗？那穿细软衣服的人是在王宫里。你们出去究竟是要看什么？是先知吗？是的，我告诉你们，他比先知大多了。这个人就是经上所说的：‘看哪，我要差遣我的使者在你面前，他要在你前面为你预备道路。’我实在告诉你们，凡女子所生的，没有一个比施洗约翰大；但在天国里，最小的比他还大。从施洗约翰的日子到今天，天国受到强烈的攻击，强者夺取它。众先知和律法，直到约翰为止，都说了预言。如果你们愿意接受，这人就是那要来的以利亚。

约翰的洗礼是从哪里来的？是从天上来的，还是从人间来的呢？”他们彼此商议说：“我们若说‘从天上来的’，他会对我们说：‘这样，你们为什么不信他呢？’若说‘从人间来的’，我们又怕众人，因为大家都认为约翰是先知。”于是他们回答耶稣：“我们不知道。”耶稣也对他们说：“我也不告诉你们，我仗着什么权柄做这些事。”

这两个儿子是哪一个照着父亲的意愿做了呢？”他们说：“大儿子。”耶稣说：“我实在告诉你们，税吏和娼妓倒比你们先进神的国。因为约翰到你们这里来指引你们走义路，你们却不信他，税吏和娼妓倒信了他。你们看见了以后，还是不悔悟去信他。”

我看见了，所以作证：这一位是神的儿子。”
