法利賽人出去，立刻同希律一黨的人商議怎樣除掉耶穌。

耶穌囑咐他們說：「你們要謹慎，要防備法利賽人的酵和希律的酵。」

他們說：「來吧！讓我們設計謀害耶利米；因為我們有祭司講律法，有智慧人設謀略，有先知說預言，都未曾斷絕。來吧！讓我們用舌頭攻擊他，不要理他一切的話。」

那尋索我命的設下羅網，那想要害我的口出惡言，整日思想詭計。

驕傲的人為我暗設羅網和繩索；他們在路旁張開網，為我設下圈套。（細拉）

他們終日扭曲我的話，千方百計加害於我。他們聚集，埋伏，窺探我的腳蹤，等候要害我的命。

於是，法利賽人出去商議，怎樣找話柄來陷害耶穌，就打發他們的門徒同希律黨人去見耶穌，說：「老師，我們知道你是誠實的，並且誠誠實實傳神的道，無論誰你都一視同仁，因為你不看人的面子。請告訴我們，你的意見如何？納稅給凱撒合不合法？」耶穌看出他們的惡意，就說：「假冒為善的人哪，為甚麼試探我？拿一個納稅的錢給我看！」他們就拿一個銀幣來給他。耶穌問他們：「這像和這名號是誰的？」他們說：「是凱撒的。」於是耶穌說：「這樣，凱撒的歸凱撒；神的歸神。」他們聽了十分驚訝，就離開他走了。

他們憑一句話定一個人有罪，為在城門口斷是非的設下羅網，又用虛無的事屈枉義人。

耶穌對他們說：「你們要謹慎，要防備法利賽人和撒都該人的酵。」
