These are the twelve he chose: Simon( whom he named Peter),

These are the twelve he appointed: Simon( to whom he gave the name Peter),

So Jesus appointed the 12 disciples. Simon was one of them. Jesus gave him the name Peter.

Then Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus. Looking intently at Simon, Jesus said,“ Your name is Simon, son of John— but you will be called Cephas”( which means“ Peter”).

When they arrived, they went to the upstairs room of the house where they were staying. Here are the names of those who were present: Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James( son of Alphaeus), Simon( the zealot), and Judas( son of James).

Here are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon( also called Peter), then Andrew( Peter’s brother), James( son of Zebedee), John( James’s brother),Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew( the tax collector), James( son of Alphaeus), Thaddaeus,Simon( the zealot), Judas Iscariot( who later betrayed him).

Some of you are saying,“ I am a follower of Paul.” Others are saying,“ I follow Apollos,” or“ I follow Peter,” or“ I follow only Christ.”

Simon( whom he named Peter), Andrew( Peter’s brother), James, John, Philip, Bartholomew,Matthew, Thomas, James( son of Alphaeus), Simon( who was called the zealot),Judas( son of James), Judas Iscariot( who later betrayed him).

Don’t we have the right to bring a believing wife with us as the other apostles and the Lord’s brothers do, and as Peter does?

One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living.

This letter is from Simon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to you who share the same precious faith we have. This faith was given to you because of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior.

whether Paul or Apollos or Peter, or the world, or life and death, or the present and the future. Everything belongs to you,

Instead, they saw that God had given me the responsibility of preaching the gospel to the Gentiles, just as he had given Peter the responsibility of preaching to the Jews.For the same God who worked through Peter as the apostle to the Jews also worked through me as the apostle to the Gentiles.In fact, James, Peter, and John, who were known as pillars of the church, recognized the gift God had given me, and they accepted Barnabas and me as their co workers. They encouraged us to keep preaching to the Gentiles, while they continued their work with the Jews.

Simon Peter answered,“ You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”Jesus replied,“ You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being.Now I say to you that you are Peter( which means‘ rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.
