然後問眾人：「在安息日應該行善還是作惡？救人還是害人？」他們都不吭聲。

又问众人说：“在安息日行善行恶，救命害命，哪样是可以的呢？”他们都不作声。

又对他们说：“在安息日哪一样是可以作的呢：作好事还是坏事？救命还是害命？”他们一声不响。

耶稣问他们：“在安息日可以行善还是作恶，救命还是害命？”他们却不做声。

耶穌問他們：「在安息日可以行善還是作惡，救命還是害命？」他們卻不做聲。

復問眾曰：『禮日當行善乎？抑作惡乎？救生乎？抑戕生乎？』眾皆嘿然不答。

Then Jesus asked them,“ Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.

Then Jesus asked them,“ What does the Law say we should do on the Sabbath day? Should we do good? Or should we do evil? Should we save life? Or should we kill?” But no one answered.

And he said to them,“ Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent.

Then he turned to his critics and asked,“ Does the law permit good deeds on the Sabbath, or is it a day for doing evil? Is this a day to save life or to destroy it?” But they wouldn’t answer him.

Then he said to them,“ Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent.

And He* said to them,“ Is it lawful to do good on the Sabbath or to do harm, to save a life or to kill?” But they kept silent.

Then He said to them,“ Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they kept silent.

And he saith unto them, Is it lawful on the sabbath day to do good, or to do harm? to save a life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

Then He said to them,“ Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do what is good or to do what is evil, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent.

耶穌問眾人：「我問你們，在安息日應該行善呢，還是作惡呢？救人呢，還是害人呢？」

裡面有個人，一隻手是萎縮的。法利賽人企圖找藉口控告耶穌，就問祂：「安息日可不可以醫病呢？」耶穌回答說：「如果你們有一隻羊在安息日掉進坑裡，難道你們不把牠拉上來嗎？人比羊要貴重多了！所以在安息日行善合情合理。」

有個安息日，耶穌到一位法利賽人的首領家裡作客，人們密切地監視祂。當時有一個患水腫病的人在耶穌面前，耶穌問法利賽人和律法教師：「在安息日可以醫病嗎？」他們都閉口不言。耶穌便扶著那人把他醫好，叫他走了，然後又問他們：「如果你們有驢或牛在安息日掉進井裡，難道你們不會立刻把牠拉上來嗎？」

安息日是為人設立的，人不是為安息日設立的。所以，人子也是安息日的主。」

耶穌雙手按在她身上，她的腰立刻直了，便頌讚上帝。會堂主管看到耶穌在安息日為人治病，十分惱怒，就對眾人說：「一週有六天可以工作，求醫應當在這六天之內，不可在安息日！」主說：「你們這些偽君子，莫非你們在安息日不解開棚裡的牛和驢，帶牠們去喝水嗎？這婦人身為亞伯拉罕的女兒，受撒旦的捆綁十八年，難道不該在安息日為她解開捆索嗎？」反對祂的人聽了這番話後，都非常羞愧，眾人卻為耶穌的奇妙作為高興歡喜。

他們都沉默不語，因為剛才他們在爭論誰最偉大。

我喜愛憐憫之心，而非祭物；我喜愛人認識我，勝於燔祭。
