又曰：『斯譬之意、豈爾等亦不明耶？則又安足以喻眾譬乎？

Then Jesus said to them,“ Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable?

Then Jesus said to them,“ Don’t you understand this story? Then how will you understand any stories of this kind?

And he said to them,“ Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?

Then Jesus said to them,“ If you can’t understand the meaning of this parable, how will you understand all the other parables?

Then he said to them,“ Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand all of the parables?

And he saith unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how shall ye know all the parables?

Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. (niv)

“ Have you understood all these things?” Jesus asked.“ Yes,” they replied.He said to them,“ Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.” (niv)

We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand.In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness.But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. (niv)

Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked,“ You of little faith, why are you talking among yourselves about having no bread?Do you still not understand? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered? (niv)

After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable.“ Are you so dull?” he asked.“ Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? (niv)

He said to them,“ How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! (niv)

“ This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God.Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. (niv)

Peter said,“ Explain the parable to us.”“ Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them.“ Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? (niv)

Brothers and sisters, I could not address you as people who live by the Spirit but as people who are still worldly— mere infants in Christ.I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. (niv)

“ Listen then to what the parable of the sower means:When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path.The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy.But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” (niv)
