人若娶了自己兄弟的妻子，就露了他兄弟的下体，这是不洁净的事，他们必没有子女。

原来，希律为他兄弟腓力的妻子希罗底的缘故，把约翰抓住绑了，关进监狱，因为约翰曾对他说：“你占有这妇人是不合法的。”

我何时指着恶人说：‘他必要死’；你若不警戒他，也不劝告他，使他离开恶行，拯救他的性命，这恶人必死在罪孽之中；我却要从你手里讨他的血债。倘若你警戒恶人，他仍不转离罪恶，也不离开恶行，他必死在罪孽之中，你却救了自己的命。

过了几天，腓力斯和他夫人犹太女子土西拉一同来到，就叫保罗来，听他讲论信基督耶稣的事。保罗讲论公义、节制和将来的审判，腓力斯害怕起来，就回答：“你暂且去吧！等我有机会时再来叫你。”腓力斯又指望保罗送他银钱，所以屡次叫他来，和他谈论。
