耶穌隨即催門徒上船，在他以先到那邊去，等他解散羣眾。既解散了羣眾，他就獨個兒上山去禱告。到了傍晚，他單獨一人在那裏。這時船離岸已有幾百公尺，給波浪打得很苦了，因為吹的是逆風。夜裏四更天、耶穌在海上走，要往他們那裏去。門徒看見他在海上走，嚇了一跳，說：『是鬼怪喲！』由於懼怕，就喊叫起來。耶穌連忙對他們說：『你們放膽；是我；別怕了！』彼得應時說：『主啊，如果是你，請吩咐我就在水上到你那裏去吧。』耶穌說：『你來吧。』彼得就從船上下去，在水上走，向着耶穌那裏走去。彼得見了風就怕，將要沉下去，便喊着說：『主啊，救我！』耶穌立刻伸手拉住他，對他說：『小信的人哪，為甚麼猶豫？』他們上了船，風就不狂吹了。船上的人都拜他說：『你真是上帝的兒子啊！』

他們來到伯賽大。有人帶着一個瞎子來見耶穌，求他摸他。

他們就坐船、暗暗兒往荒野地方去了。

他說『哥拉汛哪，你有禍啊！伯賽大啊，你有禍啊！因為在你們中間所行過的異能，若行在推羅西頓，他們早就披麻撒灰悔改了。
