他們把人的規條當作教義教導人；他們拜我也是枉然。』你們是離棄神的誡命，拘守人的傳統。」耶穌又說：「你們誠然是廢棄神的誡命，為要守自己的傳統。摩西說：『當孝敬父母』；又說：『咒罵父母的，必須處死。』

「你的門徒為甚麼違反古人的傳統？因為他們吃飯的時候不洗手。」耶穌回答他們：「你們為甚麼因你們的傳統而違反神的誡命呢？神說：『當孝敬父母』；又說：『咒罵父母的，必須處死。』你們倒說：『無論誰對父母說：我所當供奉你的已經作了奉獻，就可以不孝敬他的父親。』這就是你們藉着傳統，廢了神的話。

法利賽人和文士問他說：「你的門徒為甚麼不照古人的傳統，竟然用不潔淨的手吃飯呢？」
