他們問耶穌，說：「經文士們為什麼說以利亞必須先來呢？」

乃問之曰、士子言以利亞必先至、何歟、

嗣問耶穌曰：『經生謂伊理靄必需先臨何也？』

And they asked him,“ Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”

Then they asked Jesus,“ Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah has to come first?”

And they asked him,“ Why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?”

Then they asked him,“ Why do the teachers of religious law insist that Elijah must return before the Messiah comes?”

Then they asked him,“ Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

And they asked Him, saying,“ Why is it that the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

And they asked Him, saying,“ Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

And they asked him, saying, How is it that the scribes say that Elijah must first come?

Then they began to question Him,“ Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?

Then they asked him,“ Why do the experts in the law say that Elijah must come first?”

They asked him, saying,“ Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

“ See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. (niv)

“ I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty. (niv)

And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. (niv)

The disciples asked him,“ Why then do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”Jesus replied,“ To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. (niv)

And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus. (niv)
