The whole company that had returned from exile built temporary shelters and lived in them. From the days of Joshua son of Nun until that day, the Israelites had not celebrated it like this. And their joy was very great.

All the people who had returned from the land of Babylon made booths. They lived in them during the Feast of Booths. They hadn’t celebrated the feast with so much joy for a long time. In fact, they had never celebrated it like that from the days of Joshua, the son of Nun, until that day. So their joy was very great.

And all the assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made booths and lived in the booths, for from the days of Jeshua the son of Nun to that day the people of Israel had not done so. And there was very great rejoicing.

So everyone who had returned from captivity lived in these shelters during the festival, and they were all filled with great joy! The Israelites had not celebrated like this since the days of Joshua son of Nun.

守居廬節、循律法書所載、節內每日依定數、循常例、獻所當獻之火焚祭、

當時以色列人自哈末至伊及溪、集成至大之會、所羅門率之守節期七日、第八日、設聖會、為祭臺行告成禮、歷七日、又守尋常節期七日、七月二十三日、王遣民各歸其家、家原文作幕民念主所施大衛、所羅門、及其民以色列之諸恩、則歡欣喜樂、

夫道成肉軀、居於我儕間、我儕見其榮、誠如父獨生子之榮、充滿恩寵真理、

眾於是日、皆大喜樂、式食式飲於主前、以大衛子所羅門再立為王、膏之於主前為君、又膏撒督為大祭司、

自先知撒母耳時以來、以色列人未守逾越節若此、以色列列王未守逾越節若約西亞、與祭司、利未人、及在耶路撒冷所有之猶大人、以色列人、並耶路撒冷之居民所守者、

在耶路撒冷之以色列人、守除酵節七日、欣喜不勝、利未人及祭司、操大聲之樂器、日日頌美主、利未人以主之善道訓民、希西家慰勞之、民獻平安祭、食節期之祭肉、又在主其列祖之天主前、自陳己過、歷七日、會眾咸議、更守七日、於是歡然更守七日、

彼有信而為旅於天主所許之地、如在異邦、居於幕、與後蒙應許之以撒雅各同、

若約書亞曾使民得安息、則後必不復言他日、

如是、在耶路撒冷有大樂、自以色列王大衛子所羅門時以來、在耶路撒冷未有若此之樂也、

此皆至死有信而未得所許者、惟遙望之、即欣喜以待、自謂在世為客旅、為寄居者、

主之僕摩西死後、主諭摩西侍者嫩之子約書亞曰、
