“ Because of your great compassion you did not abandon them in the wilderness. By day the pillar of cloud did not fail to guide them on their path, nor the pillar of fire by night to shine on the way they were to take.

“ Because you loved them so much, you didn’t leave them in the desert. During the day the pillar of cloud didn’t stop guiding them on their path. At night the pillar of fire didn’t stop shining on the way you wanted them to go.

you in your great mercies did not forsake them in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud to lead them in the way did not depart from them by day, nor the pillar of fire by night to light for them the way by which they should go.

“ But in your great mercy you did not abandon them to die in the wilderness. The pillar of cloud still led them forward by day, and the pillar of fire showed them the way through the night.

白天，你用云柱带领他们；夜间，你用火柱照亮他们当走的路。

祂没有忘记与他们立的约，因祂伟大无比的爱而怜悯他们。

耶和华走在他们前面，白天用云柱为他们指示道路，晚上用火柱照亮他们，这样他们可以日夜赶路。白天的云柱和晚上的火柱从不离开他们。

弟兄姊妹，我希望你们知道，我们的祖先曾经在云下走过红海，都在云下、在海中受洗跟从了摩西。

安放约柜的圣幕支起来那天，云彩遮盖了它。当晚，云彩整夜像火焰一般。之后，每天如此：白天云彩遮盖圣幕，晚上云彩像火。云彩什么时候从圣幕上升起，以色列人就启行；云彩在哪里停下来，以色列人就在哪里安营。他们无论启行还是安营，都遵照耶和华的吩咐。云彩在圣幕上停留多久，他们就安营多久。有时云彩在圣幕上停留多日，他们就遵照耶和华的吩咐安营多日。有时云彩在圣幕上只停留几天，他们就遵照耶和华的吩咐只安营几天。随后再照耶和华的吩咐启行。有时云彩整夜停留在圣幕上，到早晨才升起，他们就早晨才启行。不管白天黑夜，云彩一升起，他们就启行。不管是两天、一个月或是一年，只要云彩停留在圣幕上，以色列人就安营不动；云彩一升起，他们就启行。

但我没有这样做，以免我的名在周围列邦面前被亵渎，因为列邦亲眼看见我向以色列人显现，把他们带出埃及。

我们祖先在埃及漠视你行的神迹，忘记你向他们屡施慈爱，在红海边反叛你。但祂为了自己的名拯救了他们，以彰显祂的大能。

一定会告诉迦南的居民。那里的居民早已听说你耶和华与以色列人同在，你面对面向他们显现，你的云彩停留在他们上面，你白天用云柱、黑夜用火柱引导他们。

但我没有这样做，以免我的名在周围列邦面前被亵渎，因为列邦亲眼看见我向以色列人显现，把他们带出埃及。

我的上帝啊，求你侧耳垂听，睁眼眷顾我们荒凉的土地和属于你名下的城。我们向你祈求，并非因为我们有什么义行，乃是因为你充满怜悯。

“雅各啊，以色列啊，要记住这些事，因为你是我的仆人。我造了你，你是我的仆人；以色列啊，我不会忘记你。

耶和华必在日间用烟云遮蔽整个锡安山和那里的会众，在夜间用火光照亮他们。祂的荣耀必遮盖一切，是白日避暑的亭子，是躲避狂风暴雨的避难所和藏身处。

一路上，白天有耶和华的云彩停留在圣幕上面，夜间云中有火光为以色列百姓照明。

“我耶和华永恒不变，所以你们这些雅各的子孙才没有灭绝。”

耶和华不会丢弃祂的子民，使自己的大名受损，祂乐意使你们做祂的子民。

就是耶和华的慈爱永不终止，祂的怜悯永无穷尽。

虽然我们背叛了主——我们的上帝，祂却有怜悯和饶恕之心。

然而，你大施怜悯，没有完全毁灭他们，也没有离弃他们，因为你是有恩典和怜悯的上帝。
