耶和华吩咐嫩的儿子约书亚，说：“你当坚强勇敢，因为你要领以色列人进我向他们起誓应许的地，我必与你同在。”

我必在美好的草场上牧养它们，以色列的高山必作牧放它们的地方。在那里它们必躺卧在美好的牧场上，它们必在以色列群山肥美的草场上吃草。

他们夺取了坚固的城、肥沃的土地，获得了满载各样财宝的房屋、挖好的水井、葡萄园、橄榄园和很多果树；他们吃得饱足，身体发胖，因你的大恩生活安逸快乐。

他们在本国中，享受你赐给他们的大福，在你摆在他们面前这广大肥沃的地上，却不事奉你，不转离他们的恶行。

耶利哥王派人到喇合那里，说：“把那些来到你这里，进了你家中的人带出来，因为他们来是要窥探全地的。”

二人离去，上到山上，在那里住了三天，等追赶的人回城去了；追赶的人一路搜寻他们，却找不着。二人于是下山回去，过了约旦河，回到嫩的儿子约书亚那里，把他们遭遇的一切事向他报告。

你要坚强勇敢，因为你必使这人民得着我曾经向他们列祖起誓，要赐给他们的那地作产业。

我有祸了！因为我好像夏天采摘的果子，又像摘剩的葡萄，没有一挂可吃的，也没有我心所想望早熟的无花果。

他们来到以实各谷，从那里砍下了一根葡萄枝子，上头只有一挂葡萄，两个人用杠抬着回来；他们也带了些石榴和无花果回来。因为以色列人从那里砍来的那挂葡萄，所以那地方叫作以实各谷。

我不是吩咐过你要坚强勇敢吗？所以，你不要惧怕，也不要惊慌；因为你无论到哪里去，耶和华你的神必与你同在。”

他们手里拿着那地的果子，带下来到我们这里，并且向我们回报，说：‘耶和华我们的神要赐给我们的地是美地。’

所以我们可以放胆说：“主是我的帮助，我决不害怕，人能把我怎么样呢？”

你们要坚强勇敢；不要害怕，也不要因他们畏惧，因为耶和华你的神与你同去；他决不撇下你，也不离弃你。”摩西把约书亚召了来，在以色列众人面前对他说：“你要坚强勇敢，因为你要和这人民一同进入耶和华向他们的列祖起誓，应许要赐给他们的地；你也要使他们得着那地为业。耶和华亲自在你前头行，与你同在；他决不撇下你，也不离弃你；你不要害怕，也不要惊慌。”

深愿耶和华赐你聪明和智慧，使你治理以色列的时候，谨守耶和华你的神的律法。

迦勒在摩西面前使众人镇静，说：“我们立刻上去，占领那地吧！因为我们必能得胜。”但是，那些与他同去的人却说：“我们不能上去攻击那民，因为他们比我们强。”
