The next day the whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron.“ You have killed the Lord’s people,” they said.

The next day the entire Israelite community complained about Moses and Aaron, saying,“ You have killed the LORD’s people!”

But on the next day all the congregation of the sons of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron, saying,“ You are the ones who have caused the death of the Lord’s people!”

On the next day all the congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, saying,“ You have killed the people of the Lord.”

But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of Jehovah.

When he saw Elijah, he said to him,“ Is that you, you troubler of Israel?” (niv)

They grumbled in their tents and did not obey the Lord.So he swore to them with uplifted hand that he would make them fall in the wilderness,make their descendants fall among the nations and scatter them throughout the lands.They yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods;they aroused the Lord’s anger by their wicked deeds, and a plague broke out among them.But Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was checked.This was credited to him as righteousness for endless generations to come.By the waters of Meribah they angered the Lord, and trouble came to Moses because of them;for they rebelled against the Spirit of God, and rash words came from Moses’ lips.They did not destroy the peoples as the Lord had commanded them,but they mingled with the nations and adopted their customs.They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them.They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to false gods.They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was desecrated by their blood.They defiled themselves by what they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves.Therefore the Lord was angry with his people and abhorred his inheritance.He gave them into the hands of the nations, and their foes ruled over them.Their enemies oppressed them and subjected them to their power.Many times he delivered them, but they were bent on rebellion and they wasted away in their sin.Yet he took note of their distress when he heard their cry;for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented.He caused all who held them captive to show them mercy.Save us, Lord our God, and gather us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Korah son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and certain Reubenites— Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth— became insolentand rose up against Moses. With them were 250 Israelite men, well-known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council.They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them,“ You have gone too far! The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is with them. Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?”When Moses heard this, he fell facedown.Then he said to Korah and all his followers:“ In the morning the Lord will show who belongs to him and who is holy, and he will have that person come near him. The man he chooses he will cause to come near him.You, Korah, and all your followers are to do this: Take censersand tomorrow put burning coals and incense in them before the Lord. The man the Lord chooses will be the one who is holy. You Levites have gone too far!” (niv)

shouting,“ Fellow Israelites, help us! This is the man who teaches everyone everywhere against our people and our law and this place. And besides, he has brought Greeks into the temple and defiled this holy place.” (niv)

As he cursed, Shimei said,“ Get out, get out, you murderer, you scoundrel!The Lord has repaid you for all the blood you shed in the household of Saul, in whose place you have reigned. The Lord has given the kingdom into the hands of your son Absalom. You have come to ruin because you are a murderer!” (niv)

But Baruch son of Neriah is inciting you against us to hand us over to the Babylonians, so they may kill us or carry us into exile to Babylon.” (niv)

Then the officials said to the king,“ This man should be put to death. He is discouraging the soldiers who are left in this city, as well as all the people, by the things he is saying to them. This man is not seeking the good of these people but their ruin.” (niv)
