The Israelites traveled from Beeroth Bene-jaakan to Moserah. Aaron died and was buried there, and Eleazar his son became priest in his place.

“ The holy garments that belong to Aaron are to belong to his sons after him, so that they can be anointed and ordained in them.Any priest who is one of his sons and who succeeds him and enters the tent of meeting to minister in the sanctuary must wear them for seven days.

“ Go up Mount Nebo in the Abarim range in the land of Moab, across from Jericho, and view the land of Canaan I am giving the Israelites as a possession.Then you will die on the mountain that you go up, and you will be gathered to your people, just as your brother Aaron died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people.

Numbers 27:16-23
“ May the LORD, the God who gives breath to all, appoint a man over the communitywho will go out before them and come back in before them, and who will bring them out and bring them in, so that the LORD’s community won’t be like sheep without a shepherd.”The LORD replied to Moses,“ Take Joshua son of Nun, a man who has the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him.Have him stand before the priest Eleazar and the whole community, and commission him in their sight.Confer some of your authority on him so that the entire Israelite community will obey him.He will stand before the priest Eleazar who will consult the LORD for him with the decision of the Urim. He and all the Israelites with him, even the entire community, will go out and come back in at his command.”Moses did as the LORD commanded him. He took Joshua, had him stand before the priest Eleazar and the entire community,laid his hands on him, and commissioned him, as the LORD had spoken through Moses.

At the LORD’s command, the priest Aaron climbed Mount Hor and died there on the first day of the fifth month in the fortieth year after the Israelites went out of the land of Egypt.Aaron was 123 years old when he died on Mount Hor.At that time the Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negev in the land of Canaan, heard the Israelites were coming.They traveled from Mount Hor and camped at Zalmonah.They traveled from Zalmonah and camped at Punon.They traveled from Punon and camped at Oboth.They traveled from Oboth and camped at Iye-abarim on the border of Moab.They traveled from Iyim and camped at Dibon-gad.They traveled from Dibon-gad and camped at Almon-diblathaim.They traveled from Almon-diblathaim and camped in the Abarim range facing Nebo.They traveled from the Abarim range and camped on the plains of Moab by the Jordan across from Jericho.They camped by the Jordan from Beth-jeshimoth to the Acacia Meadow on the plains of Moab.

Deuteronomy 31:7-8
Moses then summoned Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel,“ Be strong and courageous, for you will go with this people into the land the LORD swore to give to their ancestors. You will enable them to take possession of it.The LORD is the one who will go before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or abandon you. Do not be afraid or discouraged.”

And out of all my sons— for the LORD has given me many sons— he has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the LORD’s kingdom over Israel.He said to me,‘ Your son Solomon is the one who is to build my house and my courts, for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.I will establish his kingdom forever if he perseveres in keeping my commands and my ordinances as he is doing today.’“ So now in the sight of all Israel, the assembly of the LORD, and in the hearing of our God, observe and follow all the commands of the LORD your God so that you may possess this good land and leave it as an inheritance to your descendants forever.“ As for you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father, and serve him wholeheartedly and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands the intention of every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you abandon him, he will reject you forever.

Deuteronomy 34:9
Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites obeyed him and did as the LORD had commanded Moses.
