勿與戰爭、即其尺土、我不汝給、乃以西耳山賜以掃為業。汝所食之糧、所飲之水、必以金市。蓋爾所為者、蒙爾上帝耶和華錫嘏、爾行曠野、歷四十年、爾之上帝耶和華、導爾佑爾、使無缺乏。於是我儕離我同族、即以掃子孫、居於西耳者、道由平原、自以辣及以旬迦別、旋踵前往、經摩押野。

摩西遵耶和華命而行、三人陟山、會眾目擊。

以東人曰、毋過我壤、恐我以刃擊爾。以色列族曰、我行由大道、如我與牲畜飲爾之水、必償以金、惟欲徒行而去。曰、爾毋得過我疆宇。以東王率其全軍、大力以禦之、不許過其地、故以色列族轉向他途。○會眾離迦鐵至何耳山、山在以東之邊隅、耶和華諭摩西亞倫曰、

勿為患難所動、爾知分定故也、我素偕爾、預語我儕必受難、後果如是、此爾所知、

堅門徒心、勸之恆信、又言我儕欲入上帝國、必歷多難、

惟爾曹當返旆、道由紅海、詣曠野以遄征。
