they spoke against God and against Moses, and said,“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!”

So they spoke against God and against Moses. They said,“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt? Do you want us to die here in the desert? We don’t have any bread! We don’t have any water! And we hate this awful food!”

And the people spoke against God and against Moses,“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we loathe this worthless food.”

and they began to speak against God and Moses.“ Why have you brought us out of Egypt to die here in the wilderness?” they complained.“ There is nothing to eat here and nothing to drink. And we hate this horrible manna!”

The people spoke against God and Moses:“ Why have you led us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread or water, and we detest this wretched food!”

So the people spoke against God and Moses:“ Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we are disgusted with this miserable food.”

And the people spoke against God and against Moses:“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and our soul loathes this worthless bread.”

And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, and there is no water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

The people spoke against God and Moses:“ Why have you led us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread or water, and we detest this wretched food!”

And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for[ there is] no bread, neither[ is there any] water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

And the people spoke against God and against Moses,“ Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness, for there is no bread or water, and we detest this worthless food.”

第二天，以色列全体会众都向摩西和亚伦发怨言，说：“你们害死了耶和华的子民。”

他们妄论神，说：“神可以在旷野摆设筵席吗？

因此人民与摩西争吵，说：“给我们水喝吧。”摩西对他们说：“你们为什么与我争吵呢？你们为什么试探耶和华呢？”人民在那里渴望得水喝，就向摩西发怨言，说：“你为什么把我们从埃及领上来，使我们和我们的儿女，以及我们的牲畜都渴死呢？”

你把我们从流奶与蜜的地带上来，要在旷野杀死我们，这算小事吗？你还要自立为王管辖我们吗？况且你没有把我们领到流奶与蜜的地，也没有把田地和葡萄园给我们作产业。难道你要把这些人的眼睛剜出来吗？我们不上去。”

以色列人对摩西说：“我们要死了，我们灭亡了，我们都灭亡了。

当时，全体会众大声喧嚷；那夜众民都哭号。以色列人向摩西和亚伦发怨言；全体会众都对他们说：“但愿我们早死在埃及地，或死在这旷野。耶和华为什么把我们领到这地来，死在刀剑之下呢？我们的妻子和孩子要被掳掠。我们回埃及去，岂不更好吗？”于是他们彼此说：“我们另立一个首领，回埃及去吧。”

以色列全体会众在旷野都向摩西和亚伦发怨言；以色列人对他们说：“我们宁愿在埃及地坐在肉锅旁边，吃饭吃到饱的时候，死在耶和华的手里！你们倒把我们领出来，到这旷野，是要叫这全体会众饿死啊！”

他们对摩西说：“难道埃及没有坟墓，你要把我们带来死在旷野吗？你为什么这样待我们，把我们从埃及领出来呢？

人民发怨言，恶声达到耶和华的耳中；耶和华听见了，就发烈怒；耶和华的火就在他们中间焚烧，烧毁了营地的边界。人民向摩西呼求，摩西恳求耶和华，火就熄了，就称那地方作他备拉，因为耶和华的火曾在他们中间焚烧。他们中间的闲杂人起了贪欲，甚至连以色列人也哭着说：“谁给我们肉吃呢？我们记得在埃及的时候，可以不花钱吃鱼，还有黄瓜、西瓜、韭菜、葱和蒜。现在我们的心都枯干了；除了这吗哪以外，在我们眼前，什么都没有。”这吗哪仿佛芫荽子，又好像珍珠。人民走来走去，把吗哪拾起来，或用磨磨碎，或用臼捣碎，或用锅煮，或做成饼，它的滋味好像油饼的滋味。夜间露水降在营上的时候，吗哪也随着降下来。

吃饱的人连蜂房的蜜也厌恶；饥饿的人连一切苦的东西都觉得甘甜。

以色列家给这食物起名叫“吗哪”，它像芫荽的种子，色白，味道像搀蜜的薄饼。

他降吗哪给他们吃，把天上的食物赐给他们。于是人吃了天使的食物，是神赐下的食粮，使他们饱足。

明早你们必定看见耶和华的荣耀，因为耶和华听见了你们向他所发的怨言了。我们算什么，你们竟向我们发怨言呢？”摩西又说：“耶和华晚上必给你们肉吃，早晨必给你们食物吃饱，因为耶和华听见了你们埋怨他所说的怨言了。我们算什么？你们的怨言不是向我们发的，而是向耶和华发的。”

人民就向摩西发怨言，说：“我们喝什么呢？”

神使孤独的有家可居住；领被囚的出来，到丰盛之处；唯有悖逆的住在干旱之地。

以色列人看见了，就彼此对问说：“这是什么？”原来他们不知道那是什么。摩西对他们说：“这就是耶和华赐给你们吃的食物。
