與天使較力，並且得勝，哭泣懇求，在伯特利遇見耶和華。耶和華－萬軍之神在那裏曉諭我們以色列人；耶和華是他可記念的名。

耶和華對何西阿說：「給他起名叫耶斯列；因為再過片時，我必討耶戶家在耶斯列殺人流血的罪，也必使以色列家的國滅絕。

耶和華的使者對巴蘭說：「你同這些人去吧！你只要說我對你說的話。」於是巴蘭同着巴勒的使臣去了。

耶戶說：「要為巴力宣告嚴肅會！」於是宣告了。

他就給約瑟祝福說：「願我祖亞伯拉罕和我父以撒所事奉的神，就是一生牧養我直到今日的神，救贖我脫離一切患難的那使者，賜福與這兩個童子。願他們歸在我的名下和我祖亞伯拉罕、我父以撒的名下。又願他們在世界中生養眾多。」

耶和華的使者從荊棘裏火焰中向摩西顯現。摩西觀看，不料，荊棘被火燒着，卻沒有燒毀。摩西說：「我要過去看這大異象，這荊棘為何沒有燒壞呢？」耶和華神見他過去要看，就從荊棘裏呼叫說：「摩西！摩西！」他說：「我在這裏。」神說：「不要近前來。當把你腳上的鞋脫下來，因為你所站之地是聖地」；又說：「我是你父親的神，是亞伯拉罕的神，以撒的神，雅各的神。」摩西蒙上臉，因為怕看神。
