永恆主的使者對他說：『你為甚麼這三次擊打了你的驢呢？看哪，是我出來敵擋你的，因為你對着我逆行了路。

使者曰、三策爾驢何也、爾所行者逆我、故我出以禦爾、

使者曰、三策爾驢何也、爾所行者違逆於我、故我出以禦爾。

主之使者謂之曰、爾三次策驢、何也、爾行此道逆我、故我出以阻爾、

The angel of the Lord asked him,“ Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me.

The angel of the Lord spoke to him. He asked him,“ Why have you hit your donkey three times? I have come here to oppose you. What you are doing is foolish.

And the angel of the Lord said to him,“ Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out to oppose you because your way is perverse before me.

“ Why did you beat your donkey those three times?” the angel of the Lord demanded.“ Look, I have come to block your way because you are stubbornly resisting me.

The angel of the LORD asked him,“ Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? Look, I came out to oppose you, because I consider what you are doing to be evil.

Then the angel of the Lord said to him,“ Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out as an adversary, because your way was reckless and contrary to me.

And the Angel of the Lord said to him,“ Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out to stand against you, because your way is perverse before Me.

And the angel of Jehovah said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I am come forth for an adversary, because thy way is perverse before me:

The Angel of the Lord asked him,“ Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? Look, I came out to oppose you, because what you are doing is evil in My sight.

And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because[ thy] way is perverse before me:

The angel of the LORD said to him,“ Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? Look, I came out to oppose you because what you are doing is perverse before me.

Yahweh’s angel said to him,“ Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out as an adversary, because your way is perverse before me.

巴蘭這一去，激怒了上帝。巴蘭騎著驢，帶著兩個僕人正走在途中，耶和華的天使攔住他的去路。

他們眼中充滿淫慾，不停地犯罪，引誘那些信心不堅定的人。他們貪婪成性，實在是該受咒詛！他們離棄正道，走入歧途，重蹈比珥之子巴蘭先知的覆轍。巴蘭貪愛不義之財，

祂賜食物給走獸，餵養嗷嗷待哺的小烏鴉。

純全無過的必蒙拯救，行為邪僻的轉眼滅亡。

我怎能不愛惜這尼尼微大城呢？城中單是連左右手都分不清的人就有十二萬多，還有許多的牲畜。」

耶和華使驢開口對巴蘭說：「我做錯了什麼，你竟打我三次！」

「牛在踩穀時，不可籠住牠的嘴。

你的公義穩如高山，你的判斷深不可測。耶和華啊，你保護人類，也保護牲畜。

行為正直的人敬畏耶和華，行事邪僻的人輕視耶和華。

因為在你們離開埃及的途中，他們沒有用水和食物款待你們，還雇用美索不達米亞的毗奪人——比珥的兒子巴蘭咒詛你們。

耶和華的天使說：「跟這些人去吧，但你只許按我的指示說話。」於是，巴蘭跟巴勒的使臣去了。

當夜，上帝來對巴蘭說：「這些人既然來請你，你就跟他們去吧，但你只可照我說的做。」

忽然有耶和華的天使在荊棘裡的火焰中向他顯現。摩西看見荊棘雖然在燃燒，卻沒有被燒毀。摩西想：「我要過去看這個奇異的景象，荊棘為什麼沒有被燒掉呢？」耶和華上帝見他要上前觀看，就從荊棘叢中呼喚他說：「摩西！摩西！」摩西說：「我在這裡。」上帝說：「別再靠近，脫下你腳上的鞋子，因為你所站的地方是聖地。」又說：「我是你祖先的上帝，是亞伯拉罕的上帝，以撒的上帝，雅各的上帝。」摩西害怕看上帝，就把臉蒙起來。

「你這魔鬼的兒子，充滿了詭詐和邪惡，是一切正義之敵，到現在還想歪曲主的正道嗎？

行為正直的窮人，勝過行事邪僻的富人。

耶和華善待萬民，憐憫祂所造的萬物。

我的子民啊，你們要回想摩押王巴勒的陰謀以及比珥之子巴蘭給他的回答，要回想你們從什亭到吉甲途中的遭遇，以便認識耶和華公義的作為。」
