Balaam said to Balak,“ Stand by your burnt offering, and I will go. Perhaps Yahweh will come to meet me. Whatever he shows me I will tell you.” He went to a bare height.

Then Balaam said to Balak,“ Stay here beside your offering while I go aside. Perhaps the Lord will come to meet with me. Whatever he reveals to me I will tell you.” Then he went off to a barren height.

Then Balaam said to Balak,“ Stay here beside your offering. I’ll go and try to find out what the Lord wants me to do. Maybe he’ll come and meet with me. Then I’ll tell you what he says to me.” So Balaam went off to a bare hilltop.

And Balaam said to Balak,“ Stand beside your burnt offering, and I will go. Perhaps the Lord will come to meet me, and whatever he shows me I will tell you.” And he went to a bare height,

Then Balaam said to Balak,“ Stand here by your burnt offerings, and I will go to see if the Lord will respond to me. Then I will tell you whatever he reveals to me.” So Balaam went alone to the top of a bare hill,

And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt- offering, and I will go: peradventure Jehovah will come to meet me; and whatsoever he showeth me I will tell thee. And he went to a bare height.

And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I will go: peradventure the LORD will come to meet me: and whatsoever he sheweth me I will tell thee. And he went to an high place.

Balaam said to Balak,“ Station yourself by your burnt offering, and I will go off; perhaps the LORD will come to meet me, and whatever he reveals to me I will tell you.” Then he went to a deserted height.

He said to Balak,“ Stand here by your burnt offering, while I meet God over there.”

When Balaam saw that it pleased Yahweh to bless Israel, he didn’t go, as at the other times, to use divination, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

Noah built an altar to Yahweh, and took of every clean animal, and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

Jethro, Moses’ father- in- law, took a burnt offering and sacrifices for God. Aaron came with all the elders of Israel, to eat bread with Moses’ father- in- law before God.

Yahweh called to Moses, and spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting, saying,

He said,“ Now take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go into the land of Moriah. Offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains which I will tell you of.”

He said to them,“ Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as Yahweh shall speak to me.” The princes of Moab stayed with Balaam.God came to Balaam, and said,“ Who are these men with you?”

Isaac spoke to Abraham his father, and said,“ My father?” He said,“ Here I am, my son.” He said,“ Here is the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”Abraham said,“ God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together.

Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and saw that behind him was a ram caught in the thicket by his horns. Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering instead of his son.

Then Yahweh opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw Yahweh’s angel standing in the way, with his sword drawn in his hand; and he bowed his head, and fell on his face.Yahweh’s angel said to him,“ Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out as an adversary, because your way is perverse before me.The donkey saw me, and turned away before me these three times. Unless she had turned away from me, surely now I would have killed you, and saved her alive.”Balaam said to Yahweh’s angel,“ I have sinned; for I didn’t know that you stood in the way against me. Now therefore, if it displeases you, I will go back again.”Yahweh’s angel said to Balaam,“ Go with the men; but only the word that I shall speak to you, that you shall speak.” So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.
