“‘ On the day of firstfruits, when you present to the Lord an offering of new grain during the Festival of Weeks, hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.

“‘ On the day you gather the first share of your crops, present to the Lord an offering of your first grain. Do it during the Feast of Weeks. Come together for a special service. Do not do any regular work.

“ On the day of the firstfruits, when you offer a grain offering of new grain to the Lord at your Feast of Weeks, you shall have a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work,

“ At the Festival of Harvest, when you present the first of your new grain to the Lord, you must call an official day for holy assembly, and you may do no ordinary work on that day.

“ On the day of firstfruits, you are to hold a sacred assembly when you present an offering of new grain to the LORD at your Festival of Weeks; you are not to do any daily work.

‘ Also on the day of the first fruits, when you present a new grain offering to the Lord in your Feast of Weeks, you shall have a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work.

‘ Also on the day of the firstfruits, when you bring a new grain offering to the Lord at your Feast of Weeks, you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work.

Also in the day of the first- fruits, when ye offer a new meal- offering unto Jehovah in your feast of weeks, ye shall have a holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work;

“ You are also to observe the Feast of Harvest, the firstfruits of your labors that you have sown in the field, and the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year when you have gathered in your harvest out of the field.

“ You must observe the Feast of Weeks– the firstfruits of the harvest of wheat– and the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year.

“ Speak to the Israelites and tell them,‘ When you enter the land that I am about to give to you and you gather in its harvest, then you must bring the sheaf of the first portion of your harvest to the priest,

“‘ You must count for yourselves seven weeks from the day after the Sabbath, from the day you bring the wave offering sheaf; they must be complete weeks.You must count fifty days– until the day after the seventh Sabbath– and then you must present a new grain offering to the LORD.From the places where you live you must bring two loaves of bread for a wave offering; they must be made from two tenths of an ephah of fine wheat flour, baked with yeast, as first fruits to the LORD.Along with the loaves of bread, you must also present seven flawless yearling lambs, one young bull, and two rams. They are to be a burnt offering to the LORD along with their grain offering and drink offerings, a gift of a soothing aroma to the LORD.You must also offer one male goat for a sin offering and two yearling lambs for a peace offering sacrifice,and the priest is to wave them– the two lambs– along with the bread of the first fruits, as a wave offering before the LORD; they will be holy to the LORD for the priest.“‘ On this very day you must proclaim an assembly; it is to be a holy assembly for you. You must not do any regular work. This is a perpetual statute in all the places where you live throughout your generations.

You must count seven weeks; you must begin to count them from the time you begin to harvest the standing grain.Then you are to celebrate the Festival of Weeks before the LORD your God with the voluntary offering that you will bring, in proportion to how he has blessed you.You shall rejoice before him– you, your son, your daughter, your male and female slaves, the Levites in your villages, the resident foreigners, the orphans, and the widows among you– in the place where the LORD chooses to locate his name.

And on the first day there is to be a holy assembly; you must do no ordinary work on it.

By his sovereign plan he gave us birth through the message of truth, that we would be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.

But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.Suddenly a sound like a violent wind blowing came from heaven and filled the entire house where they were sitting.And tongues spreading out like a fire appeared to them and came to rest on each one of them.All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them.Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven residing in Jerusalem.When this sound occurred, a crowd gathered and was in confusion, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.Completely baffled, they said,“ Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?And how is it that each one of us hears them in our own native language?Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and the province of Asia,Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene, and visitors from Rome,both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabs– we hear them speaking in our own languages about the great deeds God has done!”All were astounded and greatly confused, saying to one another,“ What does this mean?”But others jeered at the speakers, saying,“ They are drunk on new wine!”
