他不像那些大祭司，每日必须先为自己的罪，后为百姓的罪献祭，因为他只一次将自己献上就把这事成全了。

耶和华的旨意要压伤他，使他受苦。当他的生命作为赎罪祭时，他必看见后裔，他的年日必然长久。耶和华所喜悦的事，必在他手中亨通。

“为你百姓和你圣城，已经定了七十个七，要止住罪过，除净罪恶，赎尽罪孽，引进永恒的公义，封住异象和预言，并膏至圣所。你当知道，当明白，从发出命令恢复并重建耶路撒冷，直到受膏的君出现，必有七个七和六十二个七。耶路撒冷城连街带濠都必在艰难中恢复并重建。过了六十二个七，那受膏者被剪除，一无所有；必有一王的百姓来毁灭这城和圣所，它的结局必如洪水冲没。必有战争，一直到末了，荒凉的事已经定了。

亚伦要把那抽中归给耶和华的山羊牵来献为赎罪祭，

他也无须多次将自己献上，像大祭司每年带着牛羊的血进入至圣所。如果这样，他从创世以来就必须多次受苦了。但如今，他在今世的末期显现，仅一次把自己献为祭，好除掉罪。按着命定，人人都有一死，死后且有审判。同样，基督既然一次献上，担当了许多人的罪，将来要第二次显现，与罪无关，而是为了拯救热切等候他的人。

除了初一的燔祭和同献的素祭、经常献的燔祭与同献的素祭，以及同献的浇酒祭以外，这些都照例作为馨香的火祭献给耶和华。”
