“‘ On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. Celebrate a festival to the Lord for seven days.

“‘ On the 15th day of the seventh month, come together for a special service. Do not do any regular work. Celebrate the Feast of Booths for seven days to honor the Lord.

“ On the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work, and you shall keep a feast to the Lord seven days.

“ Five days later, on the fifteenth day of the same month, you must call another holy assembly of all the people, and you may do no ordinary work on that day. It is the beginning of the Festival of Shelters, a seven day festival to the Lord.

“ You are to hold a sacred assembly on the fifteenth day of the seventh month; you do not do any daily work. You are to celebrate a seven-day festival for the LORD.

‘ Then on the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work, and you shall celebrate with a feast to the Lord for seven days.

在七月十五日开始一连七天的住棚节期间，君王也要供应同样的赎罪祭、燔祭、素祭和油。’

前来攻打耶路撒冷的列国中的幸存者，必每年上来敬拜大君王——万军之耶和华，并且守住棚节。地上万族中若有人不上耶路撒冷敬拜大君王——万军之耶和华，他们必没有雨水。埃及人若不上来敬拜，也必没有雨水，耶和华必使他们和不上来守住棚节的列国一样遭受瘟疫。这将是埃及和不上来守住棚节的列国所得的惩罚。

从第一天到最后一天，以斯拉每天都诵读上帝的律法书。他们守节期七天，第八天根据典章举行庄严的聚会。

要在耕种后、收取初熟之物的时候守收割节。要在年终从田间收取劳动成果时守收藏节。

道成为肉身，住在我们中间，充满了恩典和真理。我们见过祂的荣耀，正是父独一儿子的荣耀。

“在收割初熟麦子的时候，要守七七收割节，年底要守收藏节。

耶和华对摩西说：“你把以下条例告诉以色列人。“从七月十五日开始，你们要一连七天向耶和华守住棚节。第一天，你们要举行圣会，不可做日常工作。这七天你们要献火祭给耶和华。第八天要举行圣会，献火祭给耶和华。这是庄严的聚会，你们不可做日常工作。“以上是耶和华所定的节期。在这些节期里，你们要召开圣会，按规定的日子献给耶和华燔祭、素祭、奠祭和其他祭物。除了守安息日并向耶和华献供物、还愿祭和自愿献的祭以外，你们还要守这些节期。“你们收割完后，从七月十五日起，要一连七天庆祝耶和华的节期，第一天和第八天是安息之日。第一天，你们要摘下树上结的上好果子，折下棕树枝、叶子浓密的树枝与河边的柳枝，在你们的上帝耶和华面前欢庆七天。在每年七月的这七天，你们要向耶和华守这节期。这是永远不变的律例，你们世世代代都要遵守。你们要搭棚居住七天，所有以色列人都要住在棚里。这样，你们的后代就会知道，我带领以色列人离开埃及后，曾让他们住在棚里。我是你们的上帝耶和华。”

当时，他们发现耶和华借摩西吩咐的律法上记载，以色列人要在七月节期期间住在棚子里，

他凭信心像异乡人一样寄居在上帝应许给他的地方。他住在帐篷里，与同受一个应许的以撒和雅各一样。因为他盼望的是一座有根基的城，是由上帝设计、建造的。撒拉过了生育年龄后凭信心仍然得到了孕育后代的能力，因为她认定赐她应许的上帝言出必行。所以，从一个垂暮之年的人生出许多子孙，好像天上的星、海边的沙那么多。这些人到死都满怀信心。他们虽然没有得到上帝所应许的，却从远处望见了，就欢喜快乐，承认自己在世上不过是寄居的异乡人。
