“‘ On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. Celebrate a festival to the Lord for seven days.

“‘ On the 15th day of the seventh month, come together for a special service. Do not do any regular work. Celebrate the Feast of Booths for seven days to honor the Lord.

“ On the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work, and you shall keep a feast to the Lord seven days.

“ Five days later, on the fifteenth day of the same month, you must call another holy assembly of all the people, and you may do no ordinary work on that day. It is the beginning of the Festival of Shelters, a seven day festival to the Lord.

“ You are to hold a sacred assembly on the fifteenth day of the seventh month; you do not do any daily work. You are to celebrate a seven-day festival for the LORD.

‘ Then on the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work, and you shall celebrate with a feast to the Lord for seven days.

“你从禾场上和榨酒池里收藏了出产以后，就要举行住棚节七日。在这节期以内，你和你的儿女、仆婢，以及住在你城里的利未人、寄居者、孤儿和寡妇，都要欢乐。

七月十五日，守节的时候，他也要这样行，照着逾越节的赎罪祭、燔祭、素祭和油的条例去作。”

所有前来攻击耶路撒冷的列国中剩下的人，必年年上来敬拜大君王万军之耶和华，并且守住棚节。地上的万族中，凡是不上耶路撒冷敬拜大君王万军之耶和华的，就必没有雨降给他们。埃及族若不上来参加，就必没有雨降给他们，这就是耶和华用来击打那些不上来守住棚节的列国的灾祸。这就是埃及的刑罚，也是所有不上来守住棚节的列国的惩罚。

从头一天直到最后一天，每天都宣读神的律法书。他们守节七天，第八天照典章有严肃会。

又要守收割节，就是收在田间你劳碌耕种所得初熟之物的节；也要在年底守收藏节，就是在田间收集你劳碌所得之物的时候。

道成了肉身，住在我们中间，满有恩典和真理。我们见过他的荣光，正是从父而来的独生子的荣光。

在收割初熟麦子的时候，你要守七七节；在年底，你要过收藏节。

耶和华对摩西说：“你要告诉以色列人：七月十五日是住棚节，要在耶和华面前守这七天的节期。第一天应当有圣会；什么劳碌的工你们都不可作。这七天你们每天都要献火祭给耶和华；第八天应当有圣会，要献火祭给耶和华，这是集会的日子，什么劳碌的工都不可作。“以上是耶和华的节日，你们应当召集圣会，照着每日的规定献火祭给耶和华，就是燔祭、素祭、平安祭和奠祭。此外，还有耶和华的安息日，你们的供物，你们的一切还愿祭和甘心献的祭，这些是你们当献给耶和华的。“又在七月十五日，你们收了那地的出产以后，要守耶和华的节七日，第一天要完全休歇，第八天也要完全休歇。第一天你们要拿果树的美果、棕树枝、茂密的大树枝和溪边的杨柳枝，在耶和华你们的神面前欢乐七天。你们每年七月，要守耶和华这七天的节期，这是你们世世代代永远的律例。你们要住在棚里七天；以色列所有的本地人都要住在棚里，好叫你们世世代代知道，我领以色列人出埃及地的时候，曾经使他们住在棚里；我是耶和华你们的神。”

他们发现律法上记载，耶和华曾藉着摩西吩咐以色列人，要在七月的节期中，住在棚里，

因着信，他在应许之地寄居，好像是在异乡，与承受同样应许的以撒、雅各一样住在帐棚里。因为他等待那座有根基的城，就是神所设计所建造的。因着信，甚至撒拉，她虽然过了生育的年龄，还是能够怀孕，因为她认为那应许她的是信实的。所以从一个好像已死的人，竟然生出许多子孙来，仿佛天上的星那么众多，海边的沙那么无数。这些人都是存着信心死了的，还没有得着所应许的，只不过是从远处看见，就表示欢迎，又承认他们在世上是异乡人，是客旅。
