“‘ On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. Celebrate a festival to the Lord for seven days.

“‘ On the 15th day of the seventh month, come together for a special service. Do not do any regular work. Celebrate the Feast of Booths for seven days to honor the Lord.

“ On the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall not do any ordinary work, and you shall keep a feast to the Lord seven days.

“ Five days later, on the fifteenth day of the same month, you must call another holy assembly of all the people, and you may do no ordinary work on that day. It is the beginning of the Festival of Shelters, a seven day festival to the Lord.

“ You are to hold a sacred assembly on the fifteenth day of the seventh month; you do not do any daily work. You are to celebrate a seven-day festival for the LORD.

‘ Then on the fifteenth day of the seventh month you shall have a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work, and you shall celebrate with a feast to the Lord for seven days.

「你收藏了禾場和壓酒池的出產以後，就要守住棚節七日。在節期中，你和你的兒女、僕婢，以及住在你城裏的利未人、寄居的和孤兒寡婦，都要歡樂。

七月十五日守節的時候，七天他都要像這樣預備贖罪祭、燔祭、素祭和油。」

上來攻擊耶路撒冷的列國中所有剩下的人，要年年上來敬拜大君王－萬軍之耶和華，並守住棚節。地上萬族中，凡不上耶路撒冷敬拜大君王－萬軍之耶和華的，雨必不降在他們的地上。埃及族若不上來，雨必不降在他們的地上；凡不上來守住棚節的列國，耶和華必用這災攻擊他們。這就是埃及的懲罰和那些不上來守住棚節之列國的懲罰。

從第一天直到末一天，以斯拉天天朗讀上帝的律法書。他們守節七日，第八日照例有嚴肅會。

你要守收割節，收田間所種、勞碌所得初熟之物。你年底收藏田間勞碌所得時，要守收藏節。

道成了肉身，住在我們中間，充充滿滿地有恩典有真理，我們也見過他的榮光，正是父獨一兒子的榮光。

在收割初熟麥子的時候要守七七節，又要在年底守收藏節。

耶和華吩咐摩西說：「你要吩咐以色列人說：這七月十五日是住棚節，要向耶和華守這節七日。第一日當有聖會，任何勞動的工都不可做。要將火祭獻給耶和華七日。第八日當守聖會，並要獻火祭給耶和華。這是嚴肅會，任何勞動的工都不可做。「這是耶和華的節期，就是你們要宣告為聖會的節期；要將火祭，就是燔祭、素祭、祭物和澆酒祭，按照每日的規定獻給耶和華。除此之外，還有耶和華的安息日，你們獻給耶和華的供物，一切的還願祭，和一切的甘心祭。「但是，從七月十五日起，你們收藏了地的出產之後，要守耶和華的節期七日。第一日為要完全安息，第八日也要完全安息。第一日，你們要拿美好樹上的果子、棕樹枝、樹葉茂密的枝條和河邊的柳枝，在耶和華－你們的上帝面前歡樂七日。每年你們要向耶和華守這節七日。你們在七月裏所守的節，要成為世世代代永遠的定例。你們要住在棚裏七日；凡以色列家出生的人都要住在棚裏，好叫你們世世代代知道，我領以色列人出埃及地的時候，曾使他們住在棚裏。我是耶和華－你們的上帝。」

他們發現律法書上寫着，耶和華藉摩西吩咐以色列人要在七月的節期中住在棚裏，

因着信，他就在所應許之地作客，好像在異鄉，居住在帳棚裏，與蒙同一個應許的以撒和雅各一樣。因為他等候着那座有根基的城，就是上帝所設計和建造的。因着信，撒拉自己已過了生育的年齡還能懷孕，因為她認為應許她的那位是可信的；所以，從一個彷彿已死的人竟生出子孫，如同天上的星那樣眾多，海邊的沙那樣無數。這些人都是存着信心死的，並沒有得着所應許的，卻從遠處觀望，且歡喜迎接。他們承認自己在地上是客旅，是寄居的。
