“‘ On the second day offer twelve young bulls, two rams and fourteen male lambs a year old, all without defect.

And on the second day ye shall offer twelve young bullocks, two rams, fourteen he- lambs a year old without blemish;

“ On the second day present 12 young bulls, two rams, and 14 male lambs a year old— all unblemished—

And on the second day[ ye shall offer] twelve young bullocks, two rams, fourteen lambs of the first year without spot:

I bring no charges against you concerning your sacrifices or concerning your burnt offerings, which are ever before me.I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens, (niv)

For when I brought your ancestors out of Egypt and spoke to them, I did not just give them commands about burnt offerings and sacrifices,but I gave them this command: Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in obedience to all I command you, that it may go well with you. (niv)

For seven days present food offerings to the Lord, and on the eighth day hold a sacred assembly and present a food offering to the Lord. It is the closing special assembly; do no regular work. (niv)

By calling this covenant“ new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear. (niv)

This will please the Lord more than an ox, more than a bull with its horns and hooves. (niv)

“ The multitude of your sacrifices— what are they to me?” says the Lord.“ I have more than enough of burnt offerings, of rams and the fat of fattened animals; I have no pleasure in the blood of bulls and lambs and goats. (niv)

Present as an aroma pleasing to the Lord a food offering consisting of a burnt offering of thirteen young bulls, two rams and fourteen male lambs a year old, all without defect. (niv)

You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise. (niv)

Behind the second curtain was a room called the Most Holy Place,which had the golden altar of incense and the gold-covered ark of the covenant. This ark contained the gold jar of manna, Aaron’s staff that had budded, and the stone tablets of the covenant.Above the ark were the cherubim of the Glory, overshadowing the atonement cover. But we cannot discuss these things in detail now.When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry.But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still functioning.This is an illustration for the present time, indicating that the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper.They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings— external regulations applying until the time of the new order.But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made with human hands, that is to say, is not a part of this creation.He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean.How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! (niv)

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God— this is your true and proper worship. (niv)

Sacrifice and offering you did not desire— but my ears you have opened— burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. (niv)

For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings. (niv)
