「七月初十日，你們當有聖會；要刻苦己心，甚麼工都不可做。

“七月初十日，你们当有圣会；要刻苦己心，什么工都不可做。

“七月初十，你们当有圣会；要刻苦己心，任何工都不可做。

“七月十日，你们要举行圣会，禁食，不可工作。

“‘在七月十日，你们要有圣会，刻苦己心，什么都不可作，

「七月十日，你們要舉行聖會，禁食，不可工作。

“‘在七月十日，你們要有聖會，刻苦己心，甚麼都不可作，

『在這七月十日、你們要有聖聚會，要刻苦自己；甚麼工都不可作，

七月十日、必有聖會、當苦其心、勿操作、

七月十日、必有聖會、咸止工作、卑以自牧、

七月十日、爾當有聖會、必刻苦齋戒、無論何工、悉毋作、

“‘ On the tenth day of this seventh month hold a sacred assembly. You must deny yourselves and do no work.

“‘ On the tenth day of the seventh month, come together for a special service. You must not eat anything on that day. You must not do any work on it.

“ On the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy convocation and afflict yourselves. You shall do no work,

“ Ten days later, on the tenth day of the same month, you must call another holy assembly. On that day, the Day of Atonement, the people must go without food and must do no ordinary work.

“ You are to hold a sacred assembly on the tenth day of this seventh month and practice self-denial; do not do any work.

‘ Then on the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy assembly, and you shall humble yourselves; you shall not do any work.

‘ On the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall afflict your souls; you shall not do any work.

And on the tenth day of this seventh month ye shall have a holy convocation; and ye shall afflict your souls: ye shall do no manner of work;

“ You are to hold a sacred assembly on the tenth day of this seventh month and practice self-denial; you must not do any work.

And ye shall have on the tenth[ day] of this seventh month an holy convocation; and ye shall afflict your souls: ye shall not do any work[ therein]:

“‘ On the tenth day of this seventh month you are to have a holy assembly. You must humble yourselves; you must not do any work on it.

“‘ On the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy convocation. You shall afflict your souls. You shall do no kind of work;

至於我，當他們有病的時候，我便穿麻衣，禁食，刻苦己心；我所求的都歸到自己的懷中。

「每逢七月初十日，你們要刻苦己心，無論是本地人，是寄居在你們中間的外人，甚麼工都不可做；這要作你們永遠的定例。因在這日要為你們贖罪，使你們潔淨。你們要在耶和華面前得以潔淨，脫盡一切的罪愆。這日你們要守為聖安息日，要刻苦己心；這為永遠的定例。

走的日子多了，已經過了禁食的節期，行船又危險，保羅就勸眾人說：

那時，我在亞哈瓦河邊宣告禁食，為要在我們神面前克苦己心，求他使我們和婦人孩子，並一切所有的，都得平坦的道路。

我告訴你們，不是的！你們若不悔改，都要如此滅亡！」

他們說：我們禁食，你為何不看見呢？我們刻苦己心，你為何不理會呢？看哪，你們禁食的日子仍求利益，勒逼人為你們做苦工。你們禁食，卻互相爭競，以凶惡的拳頭打人。你們今日禁食，不得使你們的聲音聽聞於上。這樣禁食豈是我所揀選、使人刻苦己心的日子嗎？豈是叫人垂頭像葦子，用麻布和爐灰鋪在他以下嗎？你這可稱為禁食、為耶和華所悅納的日子嗎？

因為知道我們的舊人和他同釘十字架，使罪身滅絕，叫我們不再作罪的奴僕；

耶和華曉諭摩西說：「七月初十是贖罪日；你們要守為聖會，並要刻苦己心，也要將火祭獻給耶和華。當這日，甚麼工都不可做；因為是贖罪日，要在耶和華－你們的神面前贖罪。當這日，凡不刻苦己心的，必從民中剪除。凡這日做甚麼工的，我必將他從民中除滅。你們甚麼工都不可做。這在你們一切的住處作為世世代代永遠的定例。你們要守這日為聖安息日，並要刻苦己心。從這月初九日晚上到次日晚上，要守為安息日。」

當那日，主－萬軍之耶和華叫人哭泣哀號，頭上光禿，身披麻布。

我是攻克己身，叫身服我，恐怕我傳福音給別人，自己反被棄絕了。

我告訴你們，不是的！你們若不悔改，都要如此滅亡！

「我必將那施恩叫人懇求的靈，澆灌大衛家和耶路撒冷的居民。他們必仰望我，就是他們所扎的；必為我悲哀，如喪獨生子，又為我愁苦，如喪長子。

流淚撒種的，必歡呼收割！那帶種流淚出去的，必要歡歡樂樂地帶禾捆回來！

如今我歡喜，不是因你們憂愁，是因你們從憂愁中生出懊悔來。你們依着神的意思憂愁，凡事就不至於因我們受虧損了。因為依着神的意思憂愁，就生出沒有後悔的懊悔來，以致得救；但世俗的憂愁是叫人死。你看，你們依着神的意思憂愁，從此就生出何等的殷勤、自訴、自恨、恐懼、想念、熱心、責罰。在這一切事上，你們都表明自己是潔淨的。

你們親近神，神就必親近你們。有罪的人哪，要潔淨你們的手！心懷二意的人哪，要清潔你們的心！你們要愁苦、悲哀、哭泣，將喜笑變作悲哀，歡樂變作愁悶。務要在主面前自卑，主就必叫你們升高。

並問萬軍之耶和華殿中的祭司和先知說：「我歷年以來，在五月間哭泣齋戒，現在還當這樣行嗎？」

哀慟的人有福了！因為他們必得安慰。
