“ They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident, so that a plague struck the Lord’s people.

“ The women followed Balaam’s advice. They caused the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord. The people worshiped the god named Baal that was worshiped at Peor. So a plague struck them.

他們離棄正道，走入歧途，重蹈比珥之子巴蘭先知的覆轍。巴蘭貪愛不義之財，

不過有幾件事我要責備你，你那裡有人隨從巴蘭的教導。這巴蘭從前教巴勒在以色列人面前佈下網羅，使他們吃祭過偶像的食物、犯淫亂的罪。

你們親眼看見耶和華在巴力·毗珥事件中的作為，你們的上帝耶和華毀滅了你們中間所有拜巴力·毗珥的人，

從前拜毗珥的罪惡不夠大嗎？那一次，瘟疫降到耶和華的會眾身上，直到今日我們還沒有洗淨這罪。

現在我要回本族去了。但我要告訴你日後以色列人會怎樣對待你的人民。」

因為他們心存敵意，在毗珥陷害你們，他們的姊妹——米甸首領的女兒哥斯比誘惑你們，她在毗珥事件招來瘟疫之日被殺。」

妓女是深坑，淫婦是陷阱；

我發現有的婦人比死亡更苦毒，她是個陷阱，心如網羅，手像鎖鏈。敬畏上帝的人避開她，罪人卻被她俘虜。
