From the Israelites’ half, Moses selected one out of every fifty people and animals, as the Lord commanded him, and gave them to the Levites, who were responsible for the care of the Lord’s tabernacle.

Moses chose one out of every 50 people and animals. He gave them to the Levites. They were accountable for taking care of the Lord’ s holy tent. Moses did just as the Lord had commanded him.

你的五穀、新酒，和油的十分之一，或是牛羣羊羣中頭生的，或是你許願獻的，甘心獻的，或是手中的舉祭，都不可在你城裏吃。但要在耶和華－你的神面前吃，在耶和華－你神所要選擇的地方，你和兒女、僕婢，並住在你城裏的利未人，都可以吃；也要因你手所辦的，在耶和華－你神面前歡樂。你要謹慎，在你所住的地方永不可丟棄利未人。 (cunpt)

「凡以色列中出產的十分之一，我已賜給利未的子孫為業；因他們所辦的是會幕的事，所以賜給他們為酬他們的勞。從今以後，以色列人不可挨近會幕，免得他們擔罪而死。惟獨利未人要辦會幕的事，擔當罪孽；這要作你們世世代代永遠的定例。他們在以色列人中不可有產業；因為以色列人中出產的十分之一，就是獻給耶和華為舉祭的，我已賜給利未人為業。所以我對他們說：『在以色列人中不可有產業。』」 (cunpt)

這事以後，主又設立七十個人，差遣他們兩個兩個地在他前面，往自己所要到的各城各地方去，就對他們說：「要收的莊稼多，做工的人少。所以，你們當求莊稼的主打發工人出去收他的莊稼。你們去吧！我差你們出去，如同羊羔進入狼羣。不要帶錢囊，不要帶口袋，不要帶鞋；在路上也不要問人的安。無論進哪一家，先要說：『願這一家平安。』那裏若有當得平安的人，你們所求的平安就必臨到那家；不然，就歸與你們了。你們要住在那家，吃喝他們所供給的，因為工人得工價是應當的；不要從這家搬到那家。無論進哪一城，人若接待你們，給你們擺上甚麼，你們就吃甚麼。 (cunpt)
