The Lord’s anger was aroused that day and he swore this oath:

The Lord’ s anger was stirred up that day. So he made a promise. He said,

When the Lord heard what you said, he was angry and solemnly swore:“ No one from this evil generation shall see the good land I swore to give your ancestors,except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land he set his feet on, because he followed the Lord wholeheartedly.”Because of you the Lord became angry with me also and said,“ You shall not enter it, either.But your assistant, Joshua son of Nun, will enter it. Nevertheless, as surely as I live and as surely as the glory of the Lord fills the whole earth,

Also with uplifted hand I swore to them in the wilderness that I would not bring them into the land I had given them— a land flowing with milk and honey, the most beautiful of all lands—

So I declared on oath in my anger,‘ They shall never enter my rest.’”

not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.
