因為你們厭惡知識，不願意敬畏耶和華，

正是因為他們恨惡知識，沒有選擇敬畏耶和華，

因其憎惡知識、不喜寅畏耶和華、

爾素不志於學、不畏耶和華、

因厭惡知識、不以畏主為悅、

「你們無知的人喜愛無知，傲慢人喜歡傲慢，愚昧人恨惡知識，要到幾時呢？

因為誡命是燈，教誨是光，管教的責備是生命的道，

它的枝條一枯乾，就被折斷，婦女用以點火燃燒。因為這百姓蒙昧無知，所以，造他們的必不憐憫他們，造成他們的也不施恩給他們。

「你們這硬着頸項，心與耳未受割禮的人哪，時常抗拒聖靈！你們的祖宗怎樣，你們也怎樣。先知中有哪一個不是受你們祖宗的迫害呢？他們把預先宣告那義者要來的人殺了。如今你們成了那義者的出賣者和兇手了。你們領受了天使所傳佈的律法，竟不遵守。」眾人聽見這些話，心中極其惱怒，向司提反咬牙切齒。

他們對神說：『離開我們吧！我們不想知道你的道路。全能者是誰，我們何必事奉他呢？求告他有甚麼益處呢？』

但是不可少的只有一件。馬利亞已經選擇了那上好的福分，是沒有人能從她奪去的。」

凡作惡的人都恨惡光，不來接近光，恐怕他的行為被暴露。

他寧可和神的百姓一同受苦，也不願在罪中享受片刻的歡樂。

說：「我為何恨惡管教，心裏輕看責備呢？

因為他們是悖逆的百姓、說謊的兒女，是不肯聽從耶和華訓誨的兒女。他們對先見說：「不要再看了」；對先知說：「不要向我們預言正直的事；要對我們說好聽的話，預言虛幻的事。要離開這道，偏離這路，不要在我們面前再提說以色列的聖者。」所以，以色列的聖者如此說：「因你們藐視這話，倚賴欺壓和詭詐，以此為可靠，

但神對惡人說：「你怎敢傳講我的律例，口中提到我的約呢？其實你恨惡管教，將我的言語拋在腦後。
