Some people are always greedy for more, but the godly love to give!

He is filled with craving all day long, but the righteous give and don’t hold back.

For we never came with flattering speech, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed— God is our witness—nor did we seek honor from people, either from you or from others, though we could have asserted our authority as apostles of Christ.But we proved to be gentle among you. As a nursing mother tenderly cares for her own children,in the same way we had a fond affection for you and were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us.For you recall, brothers and sisters, our labor and hardship: it was by working night and day so as not to be a burden to any of you, that we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.

Give to everyone who asks of you, and whoever takes away what is yours, do not demand it back.Treat people the same way you want them to treat you.If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners in order to receive back the same amount.But love your enemies and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil people.Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

He has given freely to the poor, His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted in honor.

But just as you excel in everything, in faith, speaking, knowledge, and in all earnestness and in the love we inspired in you, see that you also excel in this gracious work.I am not saying this as a command, but as proving, through the earnestness of others, the sincerity of your love as well.For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.

The one who steals must no longer steal; but rather he must labor, producing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with the one who has need.

as it is written:“ He scattered abroad, he gave to the poor, His righteousness endures forever.”Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness;you will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God.For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God.Because of the proof given by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedience to your confession of the gospel of Christ and for the liberality of your contribution to them and to all,while they also, by prayer on your behalf, yearn for you because of the surpassing grace of God in you.

Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.

I have coveted no one’s silver or gold or clothes.You yourselves know that these hands served my own needs and the men who were with me.In everything I showed you that by working hard in this way you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
