即奴隸為王、愚者飽食、

僕治其主、愚而富侈、

即奴為王、愚妄者豐富、

a servant who becomes king, a godless fool who gets plenty to eat,

The first is a servant who becomes a king. The second is a foolish and ungodly person who gets plenty to eat.

a slave when he becomes king, and a fool when he is filled with food;

a slave who becomes a king, an overbearing fool who prospers,

a servant when he becomes king, a fool when he is stuffed with food,

Under a slave when he becomes king, And a fool when he is satisfied with food,

For a servant when he reigns, A fool when he is filled with food,

For a servant when he is king; And a fool when he is filled with food;

a servant when he becomes king, a fool when he is stuffed with food,

For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat;

For a servant when he is king, a fool when he is filled with food,

Luxury is not appropriate for a fool; how much less for a servant to rule over princes!

I have seen slaves on horseback and princes walking on foot like slaves.

The LORD says,“ I will make youths their officials; malicious young men will rule over them.The people will treat each other harshly; men will oppose each other; neighbors will fight. Youths will proudly defy the elderly and riffraff will challenge those who were once respected.

The man’s name was Nabal, and his wife’s name was Abigail. She was both wise and beautiful, but the man was harsh and his deeds were evil. He was a Calebite.

But Nabal responded to David’s servants,“ Who is David, and who is this son of Jesse? This is a time when many servants are breaking away from their masters!Should I take my bread and my water and my meat that I have slaughtered for my shearers and give them to these men? I don’t even know where they came from!”

My lord should not pay attention to this wicked man Nabal. He simply lives up to his name! His name means‘ fool,’ and he is indeed foolish! But I, your servant, did not see the servants my lord sent.

So he took David down, and they found them spread out over the land. They were eating and drinking and enjoying themselves because of all the loot they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah.

A poor person who oppresses the weak is like a driving rain without food.

When Abigail went back to Nabal, he was holding a banquet in his house like that of the king. Nabal was having a good time and was very intoxicated. She told him absolutely nothing until morning’s light.In the morning, when Nabal was sober, his wife told him about these matters. He had a stroke and was paralyzed.After about ten days the LORD struck Nabal down and he died.
