“ Do you do foolish things? Do you think you are better than others? Do you plan evil? If you do, put your hand over your mouth and stop talking!

If you have been foolish, exalting yourself, or if you have been devising evil, put your hand on your mouth.

If you have been a fool by being proud or plotting evil, cover your mouth in shame.

If you have been foolish by exalting yourself or if you’ve been scheming, put your hand over your mouth.

If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, Or if thou hast thought evil, Lay thy hand upon thy mouth.

Nations will see and be ashamed, deprived of all their power. They will put their hands over their mouths and their ears will become deaf.They will lick dust like a snake, like creatures that crawl on the ground. They will come trembling out of their dens; they will turn in fear to the Lord our God and will be afraid of you. (niv)

Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. (niv)

Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues. (niv)

Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them. (niv)

Do not be in a hurry to leave the king’s presence. Do not stand up for a bad cause, for he will do whatever he pleases.Since a king’s word is supreme, who can say to him,“ What are you doing?” (niv)
