You will say,“ How I hated discipline! How my heart spurned correction!

You will say,“ How I hated to take advice! How my heart refused to be corrected!

and you say,“ How I hated discipline, and my heart despised reproof!

You will say,“ How I hated discipline! If only I had not ignored all the warnings!

and you will say,“ How I hated discipline, and how my heart despised correction.

And you say,“ How I hated instruction! And my heart disdainfully rejected rebuke!

And say:“ How I have hated instruction, And my heart despised correction!

And say, How have I hated instruction, And my heart despised reproof;

and you will say,“ How I hated discipline, and how my heart despised correction.

And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

And you will say,“ How I hated discipline! My heart spurned reproof!

and say,“ How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid. (niv)

“ How long will you who are simple love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? (niv)

since you disregard all my advice and do not accept my rebuke, (niv)

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (niv)

A fool spurns a parent’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence. (niv)

Whoever disregards discipline comes to poverty and shame, but whoever heeds correction is honored. (niv)

You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you. (niv)

“ Get out of our way,” they replied.“ This fellow came here as a foreigner, and now he wants to play the judge! We’ll treat you worse than them.” They kept bringing pressure on Lot and moved forward to break down the door. (niv)

Do not be like your ancestors, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the Lord Almighty says:‘ Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.’ But they would not listen or pay attention to me, declares the Lord.Where are your ancestors now? This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. (niv)

The next day he went out and saw two Hebrews fighting. He asked the one in the wrong,“ Why are you hitting your fellow Hebrew?”The man said,“ Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?” Then Moses was afraid and thought,“ What I did must have become known.” (niv)

Again and again I sent my servants the prophets, who said,‘ Do not do this detestable thing that I hate!’ (niv)

While he was still speaking, the king said to him,“ Have we appointed you an adviser to the king? Stop! Why be struck down?” So the prophet stopped but said,“ I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.” (niv)

But they mocked God’s messengers, despised his words and scoffed at his prophets until the wrath of the Lord was aroused against his people and there was no remedy. (niv)

For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life, (niv)

“ But they refused to pay attention; stubbornly they turned their backs and covered their ears.They made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to the law or to the words that the Lord Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. So the Lord Almighty was very angry.“‘ When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen,’ says the Lord Almighty.‘ I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations, where they were strangers. The land they left behind them was so desolate that no one traveled through it. This is how they made the pleasant land desolate.’” (niv)

since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord.Since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, (niv)
