LORD, you have heard the request of the oppressed; you make them feel secure because you listen to their prayer.

耶和华啊，谦卑人的心愿，你早已知道。你必预备他们的心，也必侧耳听他们的祈求，

貧者上祈、耶和華傾耳垂聽、而堅其志兮、

主歟、窮苦人所求者、主常垂聽、堅固其心、側耳聽其祈禱、

主已垂聽兮。謙者之音。必賜慰藉兮。堅固其心。

You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry,

Lord, you hear the desires of those who are hurting. You cheer them up and give them hope. You listen to their cries.

O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted; you will strengthen their heart; you will incline your ear

Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.

LORD, you have heard the desire of the humble; you will strengthen their hearts. You will listen carefully,

Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear,

Jehovah, thou hast heard the desire of the meek: Thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear;

Yahweh, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear,

O LORD God of our ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, maintain the motives of your people and keep them devoted to you.

He satisfies the desire of his loyal followers; he hears their cry for help and delivers them.

Before they even call out, I will respond; while they are still speaking, I will hear.

The tax collector, however, stood far off and would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said,‘ God, be merciful to me, sinner that I am!’I tell you that this man went down to his home justified rather than the Pharisee. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Do not be led astray, my dear brothers and sisters.All generous giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or the slightest hint of change.

Then you will take delight in the LORD, and he will answer your prayers.

For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and his ears are open to their prayer. But the Lord’s face is against those who do evil.

for the needy are not permanently ignored, the hopes of the oppressed are not forever dashed.

‘ You displayed a sensitive spirit and humbled yourself before God when you heard his words concerning this place and its residents. You humbled yourself before me, tore your clothes and wept before me, and I have heard you,’ says the LORD.

For the one who takes revenge against murderers took notice of the oppressed; he did not overlook their cry for help

In his pain Manasseh asked the LORD his God for mercy and truly humbled himself before the God of his ancestors.When he prayed to the LORD, the LORD responded to him and answered favorably his cry for mercy. The LORD brought him back to Jerusalem to his kingdom. Then Manasseh realized that the LORD is the true God.

The LORD pays attention to the godly and hears their cry for help.

In Judah God moved the people to unite and carry out the edict the king and the officers had issued at the LORD’s command.

when he responds to the prayer of the destitute, and does not reject their request.

In the same way, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.

The intentions of the heart belong to a man, but the answer of the tongue comes from the LORD.

Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will exalt you.

So Peter was kept in prison, but those in the church were earnestly praying to God for him.On that very night before Herod was going to bring him out for trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, while guards in front of the door were keeping watch over the prison.Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared, and a light shone in the prison cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up, saying,“ Get up quickly!” And the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.The angel said to him,“ Fasten your belt and put on your sandals.” Peter did so. Then the angel said to him,“ Put on your cloak and follow me.”Peter went out and followed him; he did not realize that what was happening through the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision.After they had passed the first and second guards, they came to the iron gate leading into the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went outside and walked down one narrow street, when at once the angel left him.When Peter came to himself, he said,“ Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from the hand of Herod and from everything the Jewish people were expecting to happen.”When Peter realized this, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark, where many people had gathered together and were praying.When he knocked at the door of the outer gate, a slave girl named Rhoda answered.When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she did not open the gate, but ran back in and told them that Peter was standing at the gate.But they said to her,“ You’ve lost your mind!” But she kept insisting that it was Peter, and they kept saying,“ It is his angel!”Now Peter continued knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were greatly astonished.He motioned to them with his hand to be quiet and then related how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. He said,“ Tell James and the brothers these things,” and then he left and went to another place.At daybreak there was great consternation among the soldiers over what had become of Peter.When Herod had searched for him and did not find him, he questioned the guards and commanded that they be led away to execution. Then Herod went down from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there.

in whom we have boldness and confident access to God because of Christ’s faithfulness.

He does not fear bad news. He is confident; he trusts in the LORD.His resolve is firm; he will not succumb to fear before he looks in triumph on his enemies.

What the wicked fears will come on him; what the righteous desire will be granted.

But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says,“ God opposes the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.”

“ Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.

Hezekiah and all the people were happy about what God had done for them, for it had been done quickly.

so that through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

When they heard this, they raised their voices to God with one mind and said,“ Master of all, you who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and everything that is in them,who said by the Holy Spirit through your servant David our forefather,‘ Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot foolish things?The kings of the earth stood together, and the rulers assembled together, against the Lord and against his Christ.’“ For indeed both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, assembled together in this city against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed,to do as much as your power and your plan had decided beforehand would happen.And now, Lord, pay attention to their threats, and grant to your servants to speak your message with great courage,while you extend your hand to heal, and to bring about miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”When they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God courageously.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.

The LORD abhors the sacrifices of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.
