我非禮不視、深惡邪僻、雖片刻不敢從兮、

邪僻之事、不容在我目前、叛逆之事、我最恨惡、不容沾染我身、

蕩滌邪與淫。痛絕虛偽習。

I will not look with approval on anything that is vile. I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it.

I won’t look at anything that is evil and call it good. I hate the acts of people who aren’t faithful to you. I won’t have anything to do with those things.

I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me.

I will refuse to look at anything vile and vulgar. I hate all who deal crookedly; I will have nothing to do with them.

I will not let anything worthless guide me. I hate the practice of transgression; it will not cling to me.

I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away; It shall not cling to me.

I will set no base thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; It shall not cleave unto me.

“ I have made a covenant with my eyes; How then could I look at a virgin?

Now at evening time David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the king’s house, and from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful in appearance.So David sent servants and inquired about the woman. And someone said,“ Is this not Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?”

but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

“ You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male slave, or his female slave, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

No one is to say when he is tempted,“ I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it has run its course, brings forth death.

Do not desire her beauty in your heart, Nor let her capture you with her eyelids.

How blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust, And has not turned to the proud, nor to those who become involved in falsehood.

Be very determined, then, to keep and do everything that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, so that you will not turn aside from it to the right or to the left,

Be careful that there is no mean spirited thought in your heart, such as,‘ The seventh year, the year of release of debts, is near,’ and your eye is malicious toward your poor brother, and you give him nothing; then he may cry out to the Lord against you, and it will be a sin in you.

What the eyes see is better than what the soul desires. This too is futility and striving after wind.

Samuel said to the people,“ Do not fear. You have committed all this evil, yet do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart.Indeed, you must not turn aside, for then you would go after useless things which cannot benefit or save, because they are useless.

Love must be free of hypocrisy. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good.

They have all turned aside, together they are corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one.

But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how is it that you turn back again to the weak and worthless elementary principles, to which you want to be enslaved all over again?

“ But your eyes and your heart Are intent only upon your own dishonest gain, And on shedding innocent blood, And on practicing oppression and extortion.”

They have quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them. They have made for themselves a cast metal calf, and have worshiped it and have sacrificed to it and said,‘ This is your god, Israel, who brought you up from the land of Egypt!’ ”

Again and again they tempted God, And pained the Holy One of Israel.

Get out of the way, turn aside from the path, Stop speaking before us about the Holy One of Israel!”

I hate those who are double minded, But I love Your Law.

For it would be better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn away from the holy commandment handed on to them.

But we are not among those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith for the safekeeping of the soul.

Do not look at wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it goes down smoothly;In the end it bites like a snake And stings like a viper.Your eyes will see strange things And your mind will say perverse things.And you will be like one who lies down in the middle of the sea, Or like one who lies down on the top of a mast.“ They struck me, but I did not become ill; They beat me, but I did not know it. When will I awake? I will seek another drink.”

Nothing at all from what is designated for destruction is to cling to your hand, in order that the Lord may turn from His burning anger and show mercy to you, and have compassion on you and make you increase, just as He has sworn to your fathers,

They covet fields, so they seize them; And houses, so they take them. They exploit a man and his house, A person and his inheritance.

The Lord has rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands He has repaid me.For I have kept the ways of the Lord, And have not acted wickedly against my God.For all His judgments were before me, And I did not put away His statutes from me.I was also blameless with Him, And I kept myself from my wrongdoing.

“ I regret that I have made Saul king, because he has turned back from following Me and has not carried out My commands.” And Samuel was furious and cried out to the Lord all night.

And Ahab spoke to Naboth, saying,“ Give me your vineyard so that I may have it for a vegetable garden, because it is close beside my house, and I will give you a better vineyard in place of it; if you prefer, I will give you what it is worth in money.”But Naboth said to Ahab,“ The Lord forbid me that I would give you the inheritance of my fathers!”So Ahab entered his house sullen and furious because of the answer that Naboth the Jezreelite had given to him, since he said,“ I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed and turned his face away, and ate no food.But Jezebel his wife came to him and said to him,“ How is it that your spirit is so sullen that you are not eating food?”So he said to her,“ It is because I was speaking to Naboth the Jezreelite and saying to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you a vineyard in place of it.’ But he said,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’ ”Jezebel his wife said to him,“ Do you now reign over Israel? Arise, eat bread, and let your heart be joyful; I will give you the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite.”So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters to the elders and to the nobles who were living with Naboth in his city.Now she had written in the letters, saying,“ Proclaim a fast and seat Naboth at the head of the people;and seat two worthless men opposite him, and have them testify against him, saying,‘ You cursed God and the king.’ Then take him out and stone him to death.”So the men of his city, the elders and the nobles who lived in his city, did just as Jezebel had sent word to them, just as it was written in the letters which she had sent them.They proclaimed a fast, and seated Naboth at the head of the people.Then the two worthless men came in and sat opposite him; and the worthless men testified against him, against Naboth, before the people, saying,“ Naboth cursed God and the king.” So they took him outside the city and stoned him to death with stones.Then they sent word to Jezebel, saying,“ Naboth has been stoned and is dead.”And when Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned and was dead, Jezebel said to Ahab,“ Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth, the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money; for Naboth is not alive, but dead.”When Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, Ahab got up to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,“ Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel, who is in Samaria; behold, he is in the vineyard of Naboth, where he has gone down to take possession of it.And you shall speak to him, saying,‘ This is what the Lord says:“ Have you murdered and also taken possession?” ’ And you shall speak to him, saying,‘ The Lord says this:“ In the place where the dogs licked up the blood of Naboth, the dogs will lick up your blood, yours as well.” ’ ”Then Ahab said to Elijah,“ Have you found me, enemy of mine?” And he answered,“ I have found you, because you have given yourself over to do evil in the sight of the Lord.Behold, I am bringing disaster upon you, and I will utterly sweep you away, and will eliminate from Ahab every male, both bond and free in Israel;and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and like the house of Baasha the son of Ahijah, because of the provocation with which you have provoked Me to anger, and because you have misled Israel into sin.The Lord has also spoken of Jezebel, saying,‘ The dogs will eat Jezebel in the territory of Jezreel.’The one belonging to Ahab, who dies in the city, the dogs will eat; and the one who dies in the field, the birds of the sky will eat.”There certainly was no one like Ahab who gave himself over to do evil in the sight of the Lord, because Jezebel his wife incited him.He also acted very despicably in following idols, conforming to everything that the Amorites had done, whom the Lord drove out from the sons of Israel.Yet it came about, when Ahab heard these words, that he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and fasted, and he lay in sackcloth and went about despondently.Then the word of the Lord came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,“ Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the disaster in his days; I will bring the disaster upon his house in his son’s days.”

I said,“ I will keep watch over my ways So that I do not sin with my tongue; I will keep watch over my mouth as with a muzzle While the wicked are in my presence.”

I do not sit with deceitful people, Nor will I go with pretenders.I hate the assembly of evildoers, And I will not sit with the wicked.

The words of his mouth are wickedness and deceit; He has ceased to be wise and to do good.

One who walks righteously and speaks with integrity, One who rejects unjust gain And shakes his hands so that they hold no bribe; One who stops his ears from hearing about bloodshed And shuts his eyes from looking at evil;

Hate evil, you who love the Lord, Who watches over the souls of His godly ones; He saves them from the hand of the wicked.

But turned back and acted treacherously like their fathers; They turned aside like a treacherous bow.

And those who bow down on the housetops to the heavenly lights, And those who bow down and swear to the Lord, but also swear by Milcom,And those who have turned back from following the Lord, And those who have not sought the Lord nor inquired of Him.”

For their hearts are like an oven As they approach their plotting; Their anger smolders all night, In the morning it burns like flaming fire.All of them are hot like an oven, And they consume their rulers; All their kings have fallen. None of them calls on Me.

But as for those who turn aside to their crooked ways, The Lord will lead them away with those who practice injustice. Peace be upon Israel.
