I was pushed back and about to fall, but the Lord helped me.

My enemies did their best to kill me, but the Lord rescued me.

O LORD, shelter me from the power of the wicked! Protect me from violent men, who plan to knock me over.

Show me evidence of your favor! Then those who hate me will see it and be ashamed, for you, O LORD, will help me and comfort me.

He rescued me from my strong enemy, from those who hate me, for they were too strong for me.They confronted me in my day of calamity, but the LORD helped me.

For it is written,‘ He will command his angels concerning you’ and‘ with their hands they will lift you up, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”Jesus said to him,“ Once again it is written:‘ You are not to put the Lord your God to the test.’”Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their grandeur.And he said to him,“ I will give you all these things if you throw yourself to the ground and worship me.”Then Jesus said to him,“ Go away, Satan! For it is written:‘ You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”Then the devil left him, and angels came and began ministering to his needs.

Taking an oath, David again said,“ Your father is very much aware of the fact that I have found favor with you, and he has thought,‘ Don’t let Jonathan know about this, or he will be upset.’ But as surely as the LORD lives and you live, there is about one step between me and death!”

Have mercy on me, O God, for men are attacking me! All day long hostile enemies are tormenting me.Those who anticipate my defeat attack me all day long. Indeed, many are fighting against me, O Exalted One.When I am afraid, I trust in you.

When someone sets out to chase you and to take your life, the life of my lord will be wrapped securely in the bag of the living by the LORD your God. But he will sling away the lives of your enemies from the sling’s pocket!

Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ Let me pick out twelve thousand men. Then I will go and pursue David this very night.When I catch up with him he will be exhausted and worn out. I will rout him, and the entire army that is with him will flee. I will kill only the kingand will bring the entire army back to you. In exchange for the life of the man you are seeking, you will get back everyone. The entire army will return unharmed.”

Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, he likewise shared in their humanity, so that through death he could destroy the one who holds the power of death( that is, the devil),
