I call on the Lord in my distress, and he answers me.

I call out to the Lord when I’m in trouble, and he answers me.

I took my troubles to the Lord; I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer.

By your favor, O Lord, you made my mountain stand strong; you hid your face; I was dismayed.To you, O Lord, I cry, and to the Lord I plead for mercy:

In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.

And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!

and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”

Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress! Incline your ear to me; answer me speedily in the day when I call!

The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish.Then I called on the name of the Lord:“ O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!”

They said to him,“ Thus says Hezekiah,‘ This day is a day of distress, of rebuke, and of disgrace; children have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to bring them forth.It may be that the Lord your God will hear the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to mock the living God, and will rebuke the words that the Lord your God has heard; therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’”

Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord.And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord:“ O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, you are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth.Incline your ear, O Lord, and hear; open your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to mock the living God.Truly, O Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations and their lands,and have cast their gods into the fire. For they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone. Therefore they were destroyed.So now, O Lord our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone are the Lord.”

I was glad when they said to me,“ Let us go to the house of the Lord!”

Come, bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, who stand by night in the house of the Lord!

O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.

Remember, O Lord, in David’s favor, all the hardships he endured,

Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.

“ Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth”— let Israel now say—

To you I lift up my eyes, O you who are enthroned in the heavens!

Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.

Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?

Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.

Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.

Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways!

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side— let Israel now say—

Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord,and said,“ Please, O Lord, remember how I have walked before you in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah:“ Go and say to Hezekiah, Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will add fifteen years to your life.
