過了許多日子，到了第三年，耶和華的話臨到以利亞，說：「你去，讓亞哈看見你，我要降雨在地面上。」

以利亞對亞哈說：「你現在可以上去吃喝，因為有暴雨的響聲了。」亞哈就上去吃喝。以利亞上了迦密山頂，屈身在地，把臉伏在兩膝之中。他對僕人說：「你上去，向海觀看。」僕人就上去觀看，說：「沒有甚麼。」以利亞說：「你再去。」如此七次。第七次，僕人說：「看哪，有一小片雲從海裏上來，好像人的手掌那麼大。」以利亞說：「你上去告訴亞哈，當套車下去，免得被雨阻擋。」霎時間，天因風雲黑暗，降下大雨。亞哈就坐上車，往耶斯列去了。

風隨着意思吹，你聽見風的聲音，卻不知道是從哪裏來，往哪裏去；凡從聖靈生的也是如此。」

「你曾進入雪之庫，或見過雹的倉嗎？雪雹是我為災難的時候，為打仗和戰爭的日子所預備。光亮從何路分開？東風從何路分散遍地？「誰為大雨分道，誰為雷電開路，使雨降在無人之地，在無人居住的曠野，使荒廢淒涼之地得以豐足，青草得以生長？「雨有父親嗎？露珠是誰生的呢？

外邦虛無的神明中有能降雨的嗎？天能自降甘霖嗎？耶和華－我們的上帝啊，不是你嗎？我們要等候你，因為這一切都是你所造的。

地上還沒有田野的草木，田間的菜蔬還沒有長出來，因為耶和華上帝還沒有降雨在地上，也沒有人耕種土地。但是，有霧氣從地上騰，滋潤整個土地的表面。

他一出令，狂風捲起，波浪翻騰。
