不喜馬力、不悅人股兮、

維馬有力、人能疾趨、主不以為悅兮、

馬有大力、非主所悅、人能疾行、非主所喜、

戰馬徒有力。佳兵安足恃。戰馬與佳兵。皆非主所喜。

His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;

He doesn’t take pleasure in the strength of horses. He doesn’t take delight in the strong legs of warriors.

His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man,

He takes no pleasure in the strength of a horse or in human might.

He is not impressed by the strength of a horse; he does not value the power of a warrior.

He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man.

He is not impressed by the strength of a horse; He does not value the power of a man.

He is not enamored with the strength of a horse, nor is he impressed by the warrior’s strong legs.

He doesn’t delight in the strength of the horse. He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.

Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because[ they are] many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!

Some[ trust] in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for[ the LORD seeth] not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race[ is] not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

But I will have mercy upon the house of Judah, and will save them by the LORD their God, and will not save them by bow, nor by sword, nor by battle, by horses, nor by horsemen.

There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.An horse[ is] a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver[ any] by his great strength.Behold, the eye of the LORD[ is] upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

Hast thou given the horse strength? hast thou clothed his neck with thunder?Canst thou make him afraid as a grasshopper? the glory of his nostrils[ is] terrible.He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in[ his] strength: he goeth on to meet the armed men.He mocketh at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from the sword.The quiver rattleth against him, the glittering spear and the shield.He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage: neither believeth he that[ it is] the sound of the trumpet.He saith among the trumpets, Ha, ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

And there were three sons of Zeruiah there, Joab, and Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel[ was as] light of foot as a wild roe.And Asahel pursued after Abner; and in going he turned not to the right hand nor to the left from following Abner.Then Abner looked behind him, and said,[ Art] thou Asahel? And he answered, I[ am].And Abner said to him, Turn thee aside to thy right hand or to thy left, and lay thee hold on one of the young men, and take thee his armour. But Asahel would not turn aside from following of him.And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn thee aside from following me: wherefore should I smite thee to the ground? how then should I hold up my face to Joab thy brother?Howbeit he refused to turn aside: wherefore Abner with the hinder end of the spear smote him under the fifth[ rib], that the spear came out behind him; and he fell down there, and died in the same place: and it came to pass,[ that] as many as came to the place where Asahel fell down and died stood still.

Saul and Jonathan[ were] lovely and pleasant in their lives, and in their death they were not divided: they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.

The horse[ is] prepared against the day of battle: but safety[ is] of the LORD.
