O fire and hail, snow and clouds, O stormy wind that carries out his orders,

lightning and hail, snow and clouds; stormy wind, fulfilling his word;

He sends his orders to the world— how swiftly his word flies!He sends the snow like white wool; he scatters frost upon the ground like ashes.He hurls the hail like stones. Who can stand against his freezing cold?Then, at his command, it all melts. He sends his winds, and the ice thaws.

So fire blazed forth from the Lord’s presence and burned them up, and they died there before the Lord.

Then the Lord rained down fire and burning sulfur from the sky on Sodom and Gomorrah.

Praise the Lord, you angels, you mighty ones who carry out his plans, listening for each of his commands.

Then fire blazed forth from the Lord and burned up the 250 men who were offering incense.

Thick clouds shielded the brightness around him and rained down hail and burning coals.

Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, causing it to scorch everyone with its fire.Everyone was burned by this blast of heat, and they cursed the name of God, who had control over all these plagues. They did not repent of their sins and turn to God and give him glory.

The Lord responded by shifting the wind, and the strong west wind blew the locusts into the Red Sea. Not a single locust remained in all the land of Egypt.

There was a terrible hailstorm, and hailstones weighing as much as seventy five pounds fell from the sky onto the people below. They cursed God because of the terrible plague of the hailstorm.

So Moses raised his staff over Egypt, and the Lord caused an east wind to blow over the land all that day and through the night. When morning arrived, the east wind had brought the locusts.

Then the Sovereign Lord showed me another vision. I saw him preparing to punish his people with a great fire. The fire had burned up the depths of the sea and was devouring the entire land.

But the Lord hurled a powerful wind over the sea, causing a violent storm that threatened to break the ship apart.

He spoke, and the winds rose, stirring up the waves.Their ships were tossed to the heavens and plunged again to the depths; the sailors cringed in terror.They reeled and staggered like drunkards and were at their wits’ end.“ Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves.

So Moses lifted his staff toward the sky, and the Lord sent thunder and hail, and lightning flashed toward the earth. The Lord sent a tremendous hailstorm against all the land of Egypt.Never in all the history of Egypt had there been a storm like that, with such devastating hail and continuous lightning.It left all of Egypt in ruins. The hail struck down everything in the open field— people, animals, and plants alike. Even the trees were destroyed.

Then Moses raised his hand over the sea, and the Lord opened up a path through the water with a strong east wind. The wind blew all that night, turning the seabed into dry land.

The Lord will punish the world by fire and by his sword. He will judge the earth, and many will be killed by him.

Listen carefully to the thunder of God’s voice as it rolls from his mouth.It rolls across the heavens, and his lightning flashes in every direction.Then comes the roaring of the thunder— the tremendous voice of his majesty. He does not restrain it when he speaks.God’s voice is glorious in the thunder. We can’t even imagine the greatness of his power.“ He directs the snow to fall on the earth and tells the rain to pour down.

Suddenly, a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.The disciples went and woke him up, shouting,“ Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”Jesus responded,“ Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm.The disciples were amazed.“ Who is this man?” they asked.“ Even the winds and waves obey him!”

For the Lord is the one who shaped the mountains, stirs up the winds, and reveals his thoughts to mankind. He turns the light of dawn into darkness and treads on the heights of the earth. The Lord God of Heaven’s Armies is his name!

“ Have you visited the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of hail?( I have reserved them as weapons for the time of trouble, for the day of battle and war.)Where is the path to the source of light? Where is the home of the east wind?“ Who created a channel for the torrents of rain? Who laid out the path for the lightning?Who makes the rain fall on barren land, in a desert where no one lives?Who sends rain to satisfy the parched ground and make the tender grass spring up?“ Does the rain have a father? Who gives birth to the dew?Who is the mother of the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens?For the water turns to ice as hard as rock, and the surface of the water freezes.“ Can you direct the movement of the stars— binding the cluster of the Pleiades or loosening the cords of Orion?Can you direct the constellations through the seasons or guide the Bear with her cubs across the heavens?Do you know the laws of the universe? Can you use them to regulate the earth?“ Can you shout to the clouds and make it rain?Can you make lightning appear and cause it to strike as you direct?Who gives intuition to the heart and instinct to the mind?Who is wise enough to count all the clouds? Who can tilt the water jars of heaven

As the Amorites retreated down the road from Beth horon, the Lord destroyed them with a terrible hailstorm from heaven that continued until they reached Azekah. The hail killed more of the enemy than the Israelites killed with the sword.

And I will cause wonders in the heavens and on the earth— blood and fire and columns of smoke.
