By the power of your hand, O Lord, destroy those who look to this world for their reward. But satisfy the hunger of your treasured ones. May their children have plenty, leaving an inheritance for their descendants.

更望賜提撕。俾與鄉願隔。鄉願生斯世。但為斯世活。以主無盡藏。暢恣其口腹。金玉既滿堂。有子萬事足。積蓄遺兒孫。繩繩相承續。

By your hand save me from such people, Lord, from those of this world whose reward is in this life. May what you have stored up for the wicked fill their bellies; may their children gorge themselves on it, and may there be leftovers for their little ones.

Lord, by your power save me from people like that. They belong to this world. They get their reward in this life. May what you have stored up for evil people fill their bellies. May their children’s stomachs be filled with it. And may there even be leftovers for their little ones.

from men by your hand, O Lord, from men of the world whose portion is in this life. You fill their womb with treasure; they are satisfied with children, and they leave their abundance to their infants.

LORD, use your power to deliver me from these murderers, from the murderers of this world! They enjoy prosperity; you overwhelm them with the riches they desire. They have many children, and leave their wealth to their offspring.

from men by your hand, Yahweh, from men of the world, whose portion is in this life. You fill the belly of your cherished ones. Your sons have plenty, and they store up wealth for their children.

“ But Abraham said to him,‘ Son, remember that during your lifetime you had everything you wanted, and Lazarus had nothing. So now he is here being comforted, and you are in anguish.

And I’ll sit back and say to myself,“ My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”’“ But God said to him,‘ You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’“ Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”

The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.

For when they die, they take nothing with them. Their wealth will not follow them into the grave.In this life they consider themselves fortunate and are applauded for their success.But they will die like all before them and never again see the light of day.

“ The rich man had to admire the dishonest rascal for being so shrewd. And it is true that the children of this world are more shrewd in dealing with the world around them than are the children of the light.

Yet he was the one who filled their homes with good things, so I will have nothing to do with that kind of thinking.

Jesus continued,“ You are from below; I am from above. You belong to this world; I do not.

I have given them your word. And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.

They may have many children, but the children will die in war or starve to death.Those who survive will die of a plague, and not even their widows will mourn them.“ Evil people may have piles of money and may store away mounds of clothing.But the righteous will wear that clothing, and the innocent will divide that money.

For they all know that my disaster has come from the hand of the Lord.

We are merely moving shadows, and all our busy rushing ends in nothing. We heap up wealth, not knowing who will spend it.

“ Why do the wicked prosper, growing old and powerful?They live to see their children grow up and settle down, and they enjoy their grandchildren.Their homes are safe from every fear, and God does not punish them.Their bulls never fail to breed. Their cows bear calves and never miscarry.They let their children frisk about like lambs. Their little ones skip and dance.They sing with tambourine and harp. They celebrate to the sound of the flute.They spend their days in prosperity, then go down to the grave in peace.And yet they say to God,‘ Go away. We want no part of you and your ways.Who is the Almighty, and why should we obey him? What good will it do us to pray?’

But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world’s viewpoint, and the world listens to them.

“ Then the rich man said,‘ Please, Father Abraham, at least send him to my father’s home.For I have five brothers, and I want him to warn them so they don’t end up in this place of torment.’

For they will not care what happens to their family after they are dead.

But robbers are left in peace, and those who provoke God live in safety— though God keeps them in his power.

You have spent your years on earth in luxury, satisfying your every desire. You have fattened yourselves for the day of slaughter.

Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures.

For I envied the proud when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness.They seem to live such painless lives; their bodies are so healthy and strong.They don’t have troubles like other people; they’re not plagued with problems like everyone else.They wear pride like a jeweled necklace and clothe themselves with cruelty.These fat cats have everything their hearts could ever wish for!

“ The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field.

Look at these wicked people— enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply.
