The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,

Now when morning had come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

Now the chief priests, the elders, and the whole council sought false testimony against Jesus, that they might put him to death;

He first found his own brother, Simon, and said to him,“ We have found the Messiah!”( which is, being interpreted, Christ).

You have loved righteousness, and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.

Herod with his soldiers humiliated him and mocked him. Dressing him in luxurious clothing, they sent him back to Pilate.Herod and Pilate became friends with each other that very day, for before that they were enemies with each other.

For, behold, the kings assembled themselves, they passed by together.

The Lord Yahweh’s Spirit is on me, because Yahweh has anointed me to preach good news to the humble. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and release to those who are bound,

Remember this, that the enemy has mocked you, Yahweh. Foolish people have blasphemed your name.

Now about that time, King Herod stretched out his hands to oppress some of the assembly.He killed James, the brother of John, with the sword.When he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This was during the days of unleavened bread.When he had arrested him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four squads of four soldiers each to guard him, intending to bring him out to the people after the Passover.Peter therefore was kept in the prison, but constant prayer was made by the assembly to God for him.The same night when Herod was about to bring him out, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains. Guards in front of the door kept the prison.

even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

The Lord is at your right hand. He will crush kings in the day of his wrath.

On that same day, some Pharisees came, saying to him,“ Get out of here, and go away, for Herod wants to kill you.”

There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against Yahweh.

Now therefore be wise, you kings. Be instructed, you judges of the earth.

Don’t forget the voice of your adversaries. The tumult of those who rise up against you ascends continually.

Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceedingly angry, and sent out, and killed all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all the surrounding countryside, from two years old and under, according to the exact time which he had learned from the wise men.

In the morning, their rulers, elders, and scribes were gathered together in Jerusalem.Annas the high priest was there, with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and as many as were relatives of the high priest.When they had stood Peter and John in the middle of them, they inquired,“ By what power, or in what name, have you done this?”Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them,“ You rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

In the morning, you shall see Yahweh’s glory; because he hears your murmurings against Yahweh. Who are we, that you murmur against us?”

For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for God gives the Spirit without measure.

Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas.

He who hates me, hates my Father also.

You have loved righteousness and hated iniquity; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness above your fellows.”

He fell on the earth, and heard a voice saying to him,“ Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
