Do not drag me away with the wicked, with those who do evil, who speak cordially with their neighbors but harbor malice in their hearts.

Don’t drag me away with sinners. Don’t drag me away with those who do evil. They speak in a friendly way to their neighbors. But their hearts are full of hate.

Do not drag me off with the wicked, with the workers of evil, who speak peace with their neighbors while evil is in their hearts.

His words are as smooth as butter, but in his heart is war. His words are as soothing as lotion, but underneath are daggers!

Don’t let me suffer the fate of sinners. Don’t condemn me along with murderers.

For their tongues shoot lies like poisoned arrows. They speak friendly words to their neighbors while scheming in their heart to kill them.Should I not punish them for this?” says the Lord.“ Should I not avenge myself against such a nation?”

They plan to topple me from my high position. They delight in telling lies about me. They praise me to my face but curse me in their hearts. Interlude

This is what the Lord says:“ You false prophets are leading my people astray! You promise peace for those who give you food, but you declare war on those who refuse to feed you.

“ Then the King will turn to those on the left and say,‘ Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.

They lie awake at night, hatching sinful plots. Their actions are never good. They make no attempt to turn from evil.

The wicked conceive evil; they are pregnant with trouble and give birth to lies.

Smooth words may hide a wicked heart, just as a pretty glaze covers a clay pot.People may cover their hatred with pleasant words, but they’re deceiving you.They pretend to be kind, but don’t believe them. Their hearts are full of many evils.While their hatred may be concealed by trickery, their wrongdoing will be exposed in public.

But you see the trouble and grief they cause. You take note of it and punish them. The helpless put their trust in you. You defend the orphans.

Their mouths are full of cursing, lies, and threats. Trouble and evil are on the tips of their tongues.

“ Quick!” he told the people.“ Get away from the tents of these wicked men, and don’t touch anything that belongs to them. If you do, you will be destroyed for their sins.”

Then the Pharisees met together to plot how to trap Jesus into saying something for which he could be arrested.They sent some of their disciples, along with the supporters of Herod, to meet with him.“ Teacher,” they said,“ we know how honest you are. You teach the way of God truthfully. You are impartial and don’t play favorites.Now tell us what you think about this: Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”But Jesus knew their evil motives.“ You hypocrites!” he said.“ Why are you trying to trap me?

Why do you boast about your crimes, great warrior? Don’t you realize God’s justice continues forever?

“ And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.”
